FlyEyes kit - Installation (Q about insurance?)

Featured Replies

Personally i think, style over function and looks is all good and well.

But if i am in a vehicle and its dark, or poor visibility, rain, mist, or snow. i want my vehicle seen easily from the rear,

and if it gets stuck, possibly broken down, or even it can have total loss of  its lights, i want it to be obvious to other drivers,

That means bright rear lights and reflectors that keep passengers, friends and loved ones safe.

Or as safe as it is possible to be.

The rear Standard tail lights, hazards, single fog light and reflectors can be poor enough without making them worse just to make them look cool, even if it is only them being a little less bright.

The FlyEyes kit hardly makes a difference to the light output! I have a 2 year old and i don't feel that the rear tinting has made the car unsafe, looking at the lights at night, there is no difference looking from the back from another car (as if driving!)

It may come off yet, i dont think i like the look of the holes when your up cose! its a shame as the black lights suit a black and white Monte!

p.s: incase you missed the post above insurance was increased by £20 over the year for having the kit fitted. they just see it as a external modification, nothing specific .i.e lights.

Maybe go out and shine a torch from a distance at the rear reflectors when you have the Flyeys on.

External modification, nothing specific, & it was the LIghts, you put the film on Lights,

Because the insurance brokers are not clued up means nothing really.

Most MOT testers & Police officers do not bother, so if your happy, then alls well!

The MOT tester should pick up on it covering the Reflectors.

if anything comes back if the worse does happen then it falls back to the company who state its completely legal and MOT Pass still! (Thats how i see it anyway)

You might at a push be able to sue them for the cost of the kit, but not for any damage caused to the car

Have to say I agree...

Why not tint the white red...would look nice seeing as the cars red.

Each it there own though..

:-)

Is there a film to tint red or is there a spray?

All red might look good but would that not make the reverse lamp glow red regardless of putting a clear bulb in it?

How can they say its ok for MOT tests then, are they referring to cars where the reflector is not in the rear lights maybe?

Flyeyes doba red version of there film.

As for the reflectors at night. Same as lights hardly affected by the mesh. Just tried with a torch from about 30m.

this is true, tho company specifically says the reflectors will still work keeping it legal and MOT acceptable...
