Race Blue vRS Black Spoiler - Good Idea?

Featured Replies

Just a thought going through my head, my rear spoiler needs repainting as water has got underneath the clearcoat (common problem), thought I might get it done in black or possibly anthracite rather than blue. I think it would look good along with the same colour wheels, front grill, rear tinted windows and lights. What do you think?

Do it dude, get some pics up after. Have been wanting to do mine for a while.

I think it will look sweet with black wheels and tints. For the grille, coloured code is the way forward.

Paul.

What do you think?

My personal opinion is - don't. But hey, I am not a fan of the black grille on the blue car either :)

But it's your car.

Why not get it wrapped then it would be easy enough to put back to blue?

Personally seeing as all the aftermarket stick on stuff comes in black then it may look like its yet to be painted. Im not a fan of all these black bonnets and black stick on stuff TBH. Even though i do have black wheels. That said its your car pal and there is no harm in giving it a go. Worst case senario you will hate it and paint it blue again.

If mine was a hatch I'd go for black wheels and grille but take off the rear spoiler altogether.

02p etc.

ooohhh....now i want a spoiler......do they do spoilers for estates and not some silly one...

You used to be able to get an OEM one but they no longer supply it for FL estates. The gap between the top of the tailgate and the end if the roof is smaller in the FL than the pre FL and the spoiler catches the roof.

Sarge.

I wouldn't go all black myself I reckon it would cheapen the look of the car, what if the ends were left blue and the centre part of the spoiler painted black?

Stick to standard otherwise it looks like what it is an afterthought,it will in my opinion de value the car.But if you want to pimp it up its always you choice.

Shame.....

Well I went for the antracite look but the wheels were carbon so it looks like the full black effect.

I'm pleased with it.

Thanks for the opinions. I've had a bit of a change of heart regarding the black spoiler so will get it resprayed blue as it is now. Open to getting it wrapped in the future though, at least I can reverse it without any expense. As for the grill, I've looked at a few blue Octavias with black grills and I'm not too keen on them, so I'll probably go colour coded too. Still want black wheels (satin finish is my preferred choice) and rear tinted windows, don't know about tinted rear lights, will have to think about it.
