Fabia Vrs

Featured Replies

There seems to be very little info on this apart from not very positive review in Autocar some weeks back and nwo the one from the Scottish paper. Is it a pup or not, at least it has mapping potential even though Im not a diesel person.

With dealers not getting a "display" model until late August there is not even a pici on the Skoda site.

Anyone got any other sources of information or picis useful to contemplate for the Mrs?

I have found out options list:

Cruise, H/L/W, Side Air bags, Sun Roof, Zeneon lights, Sat Nav, Cd Auto, Met paint

Any discounts- dealers claim very short supply as they would do to maintain their margin.

There are a few mags with tests this month.

Diesel Car - I think thats the name has a black Fab vRs on front cover - they loved it

although the one inside is a CZ plated one and is red?

Top Gear Magazine thsi month- They liked it also - mentioned on front cover - also has good section on Octavia vRS.

If the options list you mention is true It would be a great car fully speced - but probably a bit pricy

Popped into my dealers yesterday to find out a bit more. Was told that they will be getting one at the beginning of september and that I can pop down any time for a test drive. They have no spec list, but believe that it does cme fully specced up with xenon headlamps too. I also think that at 11,995, the price isn't as high as first expected. Might have to think about a new purchase in the near future! :D

My dealer told me they didn't even know yet if they were being allocated one! And quite a few people have expressed interest in one already there... :(

I was also told by a salesman that the price would be around

Only got about 3 weeks to wait before mine is ready for collection and am i looking forward to it or what?:D

what?

kidding. Make sure you post as many pics as possible, and a "driver's" review....! Do you have any experience with regular Fabias to compare it too?

fabiavrs

Thanks. This site has helped me with visuals and colours. I assume you have one on order if so can you advise what the delivery times seem to be. I am being told week 38 and 40 build weeks and if its anything like the Oct vRS then its a month more to get it to the dealer. Also options specs seem diverse but no pricing given yet.

What appeals to me most is the tunability of the 1.9 PDilump, I was told today that chipped they are quicker off the mark than a 1.8T although lack top end. nevertheless for the wife that seems to satisfy the main things. I wonder how I can disguise the diesel noise though, Ill turn the radio on during the test drive.

Chris

So whos going to be the first to book their Fabia vRS into Jabba for a remap?

;)

You've got it. One other thing I can't seem to find out is what wheels /tyres does the VRS come equipped with: 205/45 x 16? Pity there aren't any 17 options.

Chris

Think its either 195/45 16s or 205s.

The ibiza with the same engine has 195/45 16s.

I agree, 17s would look more purposeful and suit the bodykit etc.

Diesel Car lists their test specimen as having 205/45 r16. Looks purposeful without overstating the issue.

chris:

the wheels on the vrs fabia will be 16 inch no 17 op. The price is 11900 and my will be delivered to my door on the 1st sept, i was very lucky as to get this one because there is only going to be 5 on the road in the frirst week of september.

options are as follows:

side airbags

So does that mean Skoda have offered an official upgrade chip for the Fabia vRS then?

Admittedly 165hp is a bit tame for this engine, but it seems like a step in the right direction!

I think Seatsport are offereing a chip for the Ibiza, but I dont know if its available in the UK.

From what my dealer says it should be ready to order any day now although he doesn't expect to see them for "display" at end August as Skoda Marketing have said. I intend to try before I buy.

Are you getting 90 off yours as the price is 11990, anyone else know of dealers giving discounts. Insurance group is 12 ish like a Mini Cooper and similar price, comparison stops there!

Group 12 seems a bit steep when a TDi 100 Fabia is only a group 6. Does that reflect a more 'nickable' value in the car? I know I could never afford to get insurance on a group 12 car, even group 6 is expensive for me!

Shame about the 17s - If I got one, I'd be putting my current alloys on it! Definitely! I'd then have some 16" vRS alloys for sale...

PS: I hope they're 205/45 and not 195/45...! That extra 10mm on each wheel would help with handling!

edit: got a pic - I think the look is quite understated - that front spoiler only giving something away (I prefer my alloys too, sorry)

Looks really good in that pic - quite understated in appearance apart from the front spoiler.

Could do with being a touch lower maybe.

Love the Xenons!

Colin,

I was only guessing about the insurance group as being the same as a Mini Copper and knowing how they usually hike it for the any RS sporty models. Hope I'm proved wrong.

Sorry what is a TDi 100 Fabia, do you mean a 1.9 TDI, if so then it won't be more than Group 8 surely?

Chris

Yep its only group 6.

Not sure what a Fabia TDi 100 is either ;) ....just my little joke! :)

btw the SEat Ibiza sport (PD130 engine like the fab vRS) is only insurance group 7, so perhaps the new fab will be about the same.

Agree with the lowering observation. IMHO it doesn't look any lower than a normal Fabia. I think a 30mm lowering should be a minimum spring change from the standard to the vRS... Thats where I'm headed at least.

As mentioned above the Tdi Fabia that I have is a group 6 and I call it Fabia 100 since the 100bhp engine is in it (although it is rumoured to be nearer 110bhp) basically to seperate it from the taxi drivers to seperate it from their Octavia '90' Ambiente engines! I wonder where the vRS badges might just push the Fabia up to group 10......

Jason are you still going with the Eibachs?

Back to the vRS topic so its goin to be Group 6 insurance.

Has anyone booked to have a demo as my dealer thinks the forecast of end of August i.e. next week given in the Skoda Marketing letter is NOT likely to happen as they haven't heard a word about any "display" car yet?

What's the vote about colours, black is my fave out of the very limited range (although my Oct is red)!

Chris

I have been told by my dealer that they will be getting one of the first in London in the first or second week in September and I will be on the phone as soon as it arrives!

I would probably go for the black if I went for one as they don't do Cayenne! :( Though I am seriously tempted to go for the Yellow that currently resides as my wallpaper!
