Octy III SE TDI 150 4x4 ordered 11/10/13

Featured Replies

Spent some time at the dealers today trying a couple of Octy's; Elegance 150 DSG and vRS 184 DSG and after much deliberation have decided to replace our current Yeti with a new factory order Octy III SE Estate TDI 150 4x4 in candy white with options as follows;

Stone guard and raised ride height (RRP)

Winter pack

Headlight washers

Cruise control (standard)

Variable boot floor

Sunset glass

Spare wheel (full size)

Maxidot Colour (after comparing both types)

Later additions to order;

Fold down front passenger seat

Extended 5 year warranty

Quoted about 4 months for delivery.

Nice, how did you find the colour maxidot compared to the standard monochrome version?

Thought the monochrome graphics looked fairly low tech and old fashioned compared to the colour displays, even with the more basic functions that the SE I've ordered will use. Also felt the coloured graphics were more in keeping with those on the central 'radio' display.

Congratulations, it sounds like a really good spec I hope it doesn't take to long to arrive. I'd be interested to see pictures of the raised ride height. I hope it lives up to your Yeti!

Forgive my asking, but why the raised ride height?  Why not get a Scout when it's available?

(In my own case I don't want or need raised ride height since I don't need any special cross-country capability and don't want my car to look like an SUV - I love the "stealth" aspect of a four-wheel-drive car which looks just like a normal estate but which has better traction on wet grass and snow, ice and mud-covered roads - but that's just my personal preference.)

Just gives that extra bit of clearance when you go off the highway onto a dirt track for example and in winter, plus it improves your view out, albeit ever so slightly.

Regard the Scout then knowing how Skoda prices have gone up of late, it's unlikely I could afford one, even replacing my current Yeti like for like is now out of the upper limit of my budget.

Just asked the dealer to add the fold forward/down front passenger seat which seems to have popped up on the ByO, hopefully they will remember to amend the electronic order sheet :wonder:

Amended post one to reflect this.

Joining the ranks in 2014.

Corrida Red SE 150 TDI 4x4 ordered - Centre armrest, rough road package, standard cruise, MFSW, VBF, Light Assist, and hoping for a set of Denoms.

Taking spare wheel and associated gubbins from current car, carrying winter steels over from current car too.

All a bit surreal in the circumstances but will get more excited as delivery date approaches!

Glad to see you got sorted with Niall :)

Be interested to see who's turns up first only being a week apart regard ordering :wonder:

Oh I was under the impression that 17" factory option wheels were not compatible with the RRP option (blocked out on the ByO) or are you going dealer fit :wonder:

Welcome to club 4x4!

Don't know TBH. I remember the rumours on here about that, but nowt said when speccing on the paper form. Just wary that arches could look a bit empty on 16s (my opinion, not yours  ;)  ) IMHO the Mk2 pre-FL 4x4 on the standard fit 15s looked awful.

Can't see why 17s should be a problem, physically, and I did notice one of their SE demonstrators had Denoms on it, so there's a possibility there if SUK won't play ball.........

Dealer rang today - Denoms - Denied at Factory!

Back to 16s unless they become available again before the build slot is allocated.

Floated the idea of a swap for ones they already have in the UK on their cars................

Hi Niall,

pretty sure it's not a supply issue but the default position with the RRP in having 16" rim's as part of that 'pack'. Only wish they had applied the same set-up with the Yeti; saved a lot of bother getting factory 16" rims instead of 17" with the current car :giggle:

Anyway hope you get it sorted either by swopping or being happy with the look on the smaller standard rims.

Denoms are currently discontinued full stop according to dealer, not an incompatibility with the RRP.

Certainly all the online reviews showing eurospec press cars are all on Denoms.

Will see if the swap has legs. Probably depends on when the car arrives as to whether there are wheels to swap.

Pics of my new 4x4 above. Extras were: winter pack (heated screen washers, heated front windscreen & heated front seats), sunset glass, spare wheel/tools, multifunction steering wheel, mats, front armrest, cruise control. The long load length on the new Octy was one of the deal clinchers for me as I've got a ski business.

Had it for just over a week & it's now done the grand total of 60 miles, half of which were done by my missus! Got it from Skoda business contract hire on a 7k pa three year deal so that low mileage & the car's low emissions makes the car not only inexpensive but also very tax effective for a sole trader. I only live 500m from my work so well over half of my annual mileage will be done on three alpine trips per year.

In a few weeks I'll be fitting a matching set of Skoda 'take-off' alloy rims c/w Conti Winter Contact TS850 tyres (got a great deal from Tyremen in Hull) plus a black Kamei Delphin 470 roof box/Thule wingbars (from roofbox.co.uk). I've no connection to either of these two companies other than being a very satisfied customer.

Spoken with the very helpful Tyremen just down the road in Hull, unfortunately they could only offer me Octavia II alloys which have a slightly different offset but only by a mere 4mm. They also suggested my current 7Jx16 ET45 steel rims I use with the Yeti would also fit with the correct 205/55 tyres (Yeti has 215/60).

Have sent an e-mail to Skoda UK to see what they think, although I'm not holding out much hope of a) getting a reply and b ) getting a sensible answer but miracles can sometimes happen :wonder:

Could save me a few bob plus the hassle of selling the perfectly good Skoda rims and covers I currently have; only the tyres to dispose of then.

Actually starting to think a 2.0 TDi one of these with a few choice options could be my perfect daily runner.

Good value to buy, cheap running costs, not slow, excellent bad weather potential with rough road pack and perhaps winter/m+s tyres, also cheap tyres (care of 16 inch rims), hugely practical and completely anonymous. What's not to like?!

Could this spell the end of my MK2 vRS in the coming months??

Completely agree - you put it very well..

Just been looking at Skoda's home market web site for info on another unrelated option and noticed they offer the RRP on the three main trim levels (S, SE and Elegance equivalents) irrespective of 2 or 4 wheel drive systems. Also states only available with 15" or 16" wheels if translate is correct obviously.

The standard specs are lighter on equipment over there but they have much more choice on options unlike the UK, where we get just a select few.

Skod UK Technical came back stating I cannot use the 7Jx16 rims from the Yeti

Thinking I'm likely to go with 4 season tyres by either convincing the dealer to swap them for the factory summer tyres or supply the new tyres myself and sell on the factory tyres later.

Congratulations, that looks really smart. I just hope it lives up to your Yeti!!

Nice, I like that.

That boot trim protector on the boot lip, was that an accessory?  If so, do you mind me asking how much it was and did the dealer fit it for you?

Thanks.
