OK - I've been persuaded! How best to configure a new facelifted Yeti?

Featured Replies

I've been persuaded.  Partly by the wife, but also by you guys.  New Yeti order ready to make.

Needs to be an Elegance (mainly for the leather seats) and a petrol (short journeys only).

Any suggestions as to which extras to go for - are they very different from the original Yeti options?  Can't find the full details/prices of options as yet.

Need to get order in quickly, as I gather the 'old' prices still apply for a while - but how does that work, when the options have (presumably) changed?

Any thoughts on all this would be very welcome.  I was all geared up to buy the original Yeti a few months back, then went off the idea, but now it seems to make sense again.

Heated screen as a must!

Heated screen as a must!

If you really have to, but I suggest that a spare wheel comes top of the list!

Hi. I've got a 1.2 TSI Elegance which I've had for six months now - I went in to test drive the Octavia Mk II when they were coming to an end (and heavily discounted). went out in the Yeti whilst waiting for the Octavia demonstrator to be brought back to the forecourt but was immediately sold on the (more thanIi'd planned to pay) Yeti. So far, I don't regret a penny of it- it's pretty frugal and a joy to drive.

As for options, I started with the principle that what you don't spec as new is either going to be expensive or not possible to add later. So....

Spare tyre. Sorry, I one of those who don't trust this gunk stuff and what happens if you can't get a while-you-wait repair? Bargain at £80 or so.

Heated windscreen. Going to be a no-brainer on frosty mornings for £200.

Sunroof. My wife wanted it, I wasn't too bothered either way. It's nice to have but not something I'd miss to be honest (and it was pricey at over £1000).

Park assist. I wanted front sensors and it didn't cost a lot more to have Park Assist. Works to get you into tight spaces but its real value is the look on peoples' faces when you take you hands off the steering wheel. If you do a lot of town driving or find parking in tight spaces tricky, I would say go for it.

Tyre pressure monitor. After a series of punctures this seemed a good deal for £100. Not had a puncture yet (this is of course a good thing) so can't comment on whether it was value for money.

Mud flaps.

Rubber mats. I opted for these rather than the fabric ones. Seemed perfectly appropriate for the Yeti and easier to keep clean when I've got muddy boots.

I also negotiated my way into the exclusive small wheels club by having my Yeti fitted with Moon alloys and 215/60/16 tyres, but that's only an option if you are stubborn and persistent!

Regrets - with hindsight I think I would have added the electric driver's seat for the extra adjustment and the convenience if more than one of you drives the car and you need different positions. And after reading and considering all the members comments on tyres, I wish I'd negotiated four season tyres to go on before collection rather than rely on whatever it came fitted with (which so far I've no complaints with but I've yet to go through a winter).

You've made the right choice - your wife must be a wise woman!

I'm very interested in this as I have also made my mind up to get a 1.2 TSI Yeti (SE version).

Some real food for thought on your recommendations Paul.  I was going to go with the Amundsen sat nav with DAB but after thinking about it, I only wanted it for a couple of DAB stations so £400+ is a lot to pay for that.  Will put the money into something I will probably use a lot more.

This is all very useful, guys - much appreciated.  I think we're thinking on much the same lines so far.  I was planning to go for the 'temporary space-saver spare wheel with car jack and false boot floor' (quite a mouthful!), heated windscreen, full park assist and tyre pressure monitor, plus metallic paint of course.  Shame the bright red colour isn't done in metallic, though.

Considering the other options put forward - but very much subject to finance!

Are there any other essentials I need to specify?  And does anyone know if the options on the facelift are different from the original options?

Sorry to be a pain, but this is a big purchase, and I want to get it right.  It's going to have to last a long time!

If you can still get the RRP I'd go for that even on the 1.2 as they don't have any protection to the engine from underneath as standard. Otherwise a spare, heated screen HHC and TPM would all get my vote along with light assist (SE).

As has been posted elsewhere, the Pre-FL prices are being held for orders made on FL Yetis until 31 Oct 2013.

There will (should) be other options available on the FL such as the KESSY keyless entry and LED tail lights etc. What will actually be available in the UK and on what trim levels and at what price isn't known yet - to the best of my knowledge. It is well known that different countries will have different options, colours available.

The only FL Yeti Configurator up and running from what I have seen so far is for the Czech home market.

Keeping an eye out....     ;)

My dealer has got hold of the the official extras price list from Skoda UK.

Most are as per the pre FL version.

New ones that I have ordered are - Led rear lights @ £130, Sports seats @ £350, rear view camera @ £250 (?) - but has to be ordered with either of the 2 Sat Navs.

I'm puzzled by this.  I know they're taking orders at the old price for the moment, but given that we don't yet know what the options are on the FL it's difficult to see how you can enter into a firm contract until that's know.  I'm guessing the price is fixed on some sort of temporary basis for the options that are staying the same, leaving the purchase contract to be finalised once the options are definite?

Thanks - that answers my earlier question!  Couldn't see how they could make a firm sale without the options/pricing being know.  So presumably if you order in October you pay the old price for the basic car, and the old price for the options too.

And one more thing to consider - the Outdoor version.  Same price, it seems.  Any views on this?  Difficult to make decisions without seeing a brochure!

That's about the long and short of it, you will save £800 on the yeti alone, and may gain a few options for free when the finale spec comes through, i'm hoping the BT will be a standard fit on the SE  as it is on a lot of the other models in the skoda range.

Docc, yet again this is what I'm thinking.  I do think though that i'm going to go with the outdoor with what I've seen in photo's and video.  There's something about it that I like a tad more than the other version.

The UK dealers have had the full price list for options for a few days now. You can complete your order with options.

The only changes I made from Elegance Outdoor spec were moon white paint and Origami wheels. I don't like look of the black / polished Annapurna wheels that are standard on the Elegance and they can't be cost effectively properly refurbished if you curb them. The Origamis are more understated and are plain silver so can be easily touched up or powder coated. If SUK would let us have the plain silver Annapurna option on Elegances I'd have probably gone for them.

I still might add the heated windscreen and washer jets. I'm slightly nervous about being able to see the elements sometimes whilst driving though.

Interesting that some dealers are apparently privy to more information than others and that the SUK website is behind the times.

As per your previous post, Elegance and L&K are definitely spec'd with LED tail lights as standard? Can you have sports seats with an L&K?

You can see the heating elements (more in certain light conditions than other) but not to the point of being distracted from what is happening outside) - the pro of the screen well outweighs the con in my humble opinion. Are washer jets now heated with the heated screen?

They're not more privy. The information is all there on the SUK Desktop system which is common across dealers. Some dealers are just lazy at looking at updates on the system and educating themselves.

Yes.

Not in the UK.

They are separate options. The washer jets are £30.

Thanks, Nick.

Ha, I actually hadn't noticed the cz configurator was up. Links on this page for 2d and 3d for outdoor and non-outdoor:

And I forgot to add......not really an option as such but if you are looking to the Yeti as a long term purchase (that is more than three years) well worth thinking about adding the extended warranty for the extra two years to the order. There's been quite a discussion on this on another thread -  see http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/290823-extended-warranty-recommendations-please/

Thanks - that makes sound sense I think, particularly if the Which? view of reliabiity is accurate.

I specified DAB on my (soon to be delivered I hope) Yeti as it will come with Amundsen (SE+, not available as part of the FL range) and as far as I know analogue radio will be shut down in a couple of years time. Possibly after market adapters will be available - I don't know. The extra £200 on top of Amundsen seems a lot but as a proportion of the total price of the car and factored over the years of ownership it's not that much.  Like many others  I think that a spare wheel is a must. I also went for auto lights and dimming rearview mirror - the latter is great on motorways at night.

Thanks for the DAB suggestion - I need to check that out.  It doesn't seem possible to get a list of options with prices for the FL online yet (which seems odd) - and I'd prefer to sort that out in my head before visiting a dealer.  Has anyone found the details online, or can anyone post them?

Did I read we're talking March delivery, by the way?

Did I read we're talking March delivery, by the way?

Dictated by engine / colour choice and each dealer's build slot allocation. IIRC the first facelift cars are being built toward the end of November. I was tentatively quoted January delivery. Happily, the colour we've chosen is available for November builds onward so at least there's no delay on that front.

Ask your dealer for this:  (have tried unsuccessfully to paste it)

Yeti facelift options October 2013_635167593909692500 (1).pdf

Spare wheel kit has gone up from £85 to £150!!

Also Standard specs are here:

Anyone know what "Forest" 16 inch wheels look like?  I'm ordering an S as I don't want 17 inch bling wheels or drug-dealer windows;  new S now has the leather steering wheel etc and maxi dot as standard.
