Optical Connections

I think it means BT will receive your numerous complaints a fraction of a second faster via their online complaints submissions. Unfortunately it won't stop them deleteing them upon receipt. HTH :)

I've not been keeping my ear to the ground when it comes to home computers, but there is a very similar technology used in some the high end sound mixing desks to transfer encoded multi channel sound between 2 places, optical systems are brilliant for that because the is no induced mains or rf noise that you might get from copper cabling, plus the cable weight is reduced drasticly which is great when you are touring with it, the only downside is its a vey difficult and skilled job to repair a broken fibre, they need to be polished and fused at the exact temperature etc.. I can't see the point for home pc users tbh, why would you need to get that word document to the printer that extra bit quicker?

optical sound connections have been used for donkeys years for stereo sound, some CD players and mini disc recorders use them, it was a joint venture between Sony and Philips.
