Well been through the specs speed cameras near me and I can say they really annoy the hell out of me as everyone seems to panic and now do 10 -15 BELOW the speed limit causing bunching and stupid braking then accelerating! Glad ive got my road angel to remnd me!

I've got Tom Tom 5 which works on tbe same principle as Road Angel

BTW in Scotland I read in the paper this week there is going to be a new section I think in the region of 5 -10 miles long on the west coast that has 2 specs camera :thumbdwn: They say it's going to be one of the longest distances of measuring speed. See how much congestion that is going to cause.

I'm just glad the SPECS sections finished on the M6 around Thelwall and through Cheshire.

Plodding along at an indicated 42mph with a 40 tonne truck a car length from my back bumper was not my idea of road safety !

Slow down to 20mph and see how annoyed the trucker gets. I did that job for over 10 years, and there is no need to drive so close to another vehicle under any circumstances whatsoever. If you had to stop in a hurry, the truck would probably outbrake you, but if he didnt, you might not live to tell the tale. Just slow the ****** down to 20 and gesticulate out the window at him then go back up to the speed limit. That should give you some distance, or if the company phone number is on his truck, ring up and complain.

As for specs cameras, not enough people are aware of how they work or what they do, as you can see from other motorists behaviour of going through the section of road at 80mph + or slowing down at each camera. I may drive like a looney, but I ALWAYS do the exact speed limit through specs. If you look at the cameras though, they only cover 1 lane at a time. The ones near Sandbach had 4 cameras in total southbound, 2 were for the middle lane and 2 were for the outside lane. Draw your own conclusions from that. I never got caught on the Thelwall when they were up and running!

Fabreeza,

Couldn't agree more, i got so fed up with being tailgated through there i stopped using it. Luckily i had another route to use.

The area covered is actually 28 miles from the A77 north of Ayr down to Ardwell, just south of Girvan. According to the beeb, there are 40 banks of cameras. I didn't count them when I drove through on Friday, but there are cameras not only on the main roads, but also upon entering and leaving local towns and villages.

The beeb have the story here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4681507.stm

Yep. I like how they spent the money on the cameras before the road improvements... Greta idea.....
