So, what would tempt you away from Skoda.........

Featured Replies

Honestly? Not much, nothing bad about the Skoda I just like to change.

Achievable dream car? I've always hankered after a Jag XJ 4.0 Supercharged.

I was tempted away by my Land Rover Freelander 1.

A Kia Sportage has pulled me away from Skoda on my last new purchase.  Skoda just don't do a soft-roader that I like (and they are not offering 7-year warranties).

Saying Kia has anyone been and had a go in a Kia pro cee'd get? Quite tempted by that.

Pro cee'd gt I mean

Cars I can actually afford - Nothing I've actually driven so far.

Cars I like but can't afford - Nissan Skyline R34 GTR VSpec 2, preferably in Bayside Blue.

One of these

I quite like the look of the Toyota gt86, fiesta st and the Kia pro cee'd gt. Sadly their aren't any skodas that really interest me with the current offering. Will see what the new fabia's like in a couple of years

Or

Mercedes c63 Amg

Would love a 335d touring. Or more realistically in the near future a 123d. The dream is definitely an RS6 Avant though!

Ok so real life experience here. Last week or so we've been looking at changing the mk2 Octavia vRS wagon. Needs to have space, look good, be a nice place to sit etc. Looked at literally everything..., Alfa 159 SW, Audi A4, A6 and even an A8, BMW 3 series estates, Honda Accord, Mondeos (even another old shape Mondeo ST), Volvos, VWs etc. Everything. In the end we put down a deposit on an Octavia Scout (but then got cold feet and got it back). But there you go, seems nothing could tempt us away from a Skoda and after we get Xmas out the way and the wife finishes maternity leave we'll get a Scout! The only other car I saw which really tempted me was an A8 (3.0 Quattro TDi S Line). An epic car in every sense!

I've already strayed...

Another Scooby or Mk1 Escort for me. I can feel a mid life crisis coming on :giggle:

A mk2 focus rs for the 5 cylinder engine that sounds amazing or a mercedes V8 amg of some sort. They sound even better than the focus.

I'll add the mk7 golf r to this list as well. Doesn't sound as good but I'm sure that milltek will come up with something to sort that out :)

What would tempt me away from Skoda?

A lowering of fuel prices!!

I'd go petrol immediately.

You cam take mine out for a spin next time!

Lack of a 7 seater made us change

You can take mine out for a spin next time!

Cheers, see you in the morning :)

I stayed because they no longer make a Diesel Fabia VRS. If they make one in the future, there is a very good chance I will be back.

Depends if I carry on diving and doing more outdoors, so potentially a Yeti or a Suzuki SX4 S-Cross.

Otherwise a lottery win and a VW T5 base autosleeper.

My main reasons for choosing the Octavia were that it was sporty and a practical estate but not too big a car, at the time the Focus, Golf, Astra etc. were not available as a sporty estate.  I see there's a Focus ST estate now but not a Ford fan, Seat have a Leon estate FR due out next year but wouldn't buy new so it would be a few years before I'd consider one of those.  I did consider going for a hatch instead as I don't need an estate most of the time but then when you do need it, the space is extremely handy.

The one car I almost changed the Octavia for this year was a Seat Exeo Sport Tech CR170 which has a great spec and terrible depreciation so they seem to make a great second hand buy.  I tried one out and really liked the feel of it but in the end the less practical estate design (the rear seats don't fold flat, the sliding section seemed clumsier than the Octavia) plus the fact I try not to use the car these days and do most of my mileage on the bikes.  I've spent a long time debating getting rid of the DPF as that would get rid of my main complaint about car but its DPF doesn't have many miles on it so I'm dubious about getting rid of it so early.
