Review of UniRoyal Rainsport 1 on Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Thought i'd just let everyone know how i'm getting along with my vRS with it's new rubber.

After the initial scrub in period of 50-70 miles it was time to try out the car in the dry round some B roads. The first thing I noticed was the initial grip these tyres gave and the confidence to push on round some very twisty roads, the car seems to pitch and lean a lot less aswell for an unknown reason .

The major downside which I have noticed is that in the dry when you are over stepping the mark, the back end becomes very light and almost tail happy, I am unsure yet if this is a facet of the tyres or if the rear tyres just havent bed in as fast as the front with no power going to the rear/weight of the engine not being there.

This afternoon I got my first chance to try the car out in a light shower, and my god was I impressed , the rear tyre suddenly came alive and the front gripped like I have never seen anything grip in my life. Honestly, it was hard to describe, but to put it simply, I can drive as fast if not faster in the wet than in the dry. The steering was extremely precise and I could still feel everything that was happening on the road. Definately more predictable during heavy braking and almost impossible to lock up.

On another positive note tyre noise doesnt infiltrate the cabin like before, the only noise I can hear during 95% of the driving is the engine. It's hard to tell how long the tyres will last having only covered 150 miles.

So all in all these tyres are extremly competant in the dry bar the tail happy rear end when giving it some REAL beans and in the wet the car feels like a different machine .

could you be a luv and type a copy into the reviews section.

Ta ;)

I'm  as well given that pitch and lean are suspension traits...

I put it to you that this is purely placebo effect ;)

my tyre of chioce for the octy, had them on 2 previous cars and will be putting them on asap, for gri[ V's wear rate they are good, very good, not as grippy as good year eagle f1's but wear far better, andfar better in the wet imho

Actually if the side-walls are stiffer the car would lean less ;)

One of the reasons to put in more air if you go round the track, to stop the side-wall from collapsing (or at least, flexing more than it ought to) :)
