New car detailing/protection g3 glasscoat

Featured Replies

When I collect my citigo next month, one of the first things I'll be doing will be taking it to get a protection detail.

The detailer I was thinking of going to uses something called g3 glasscoat. Is this any good?

Alternatively does anyone have any reccomendations of places in Manchester/nw - potentially have two cars to be done as swmbos 208 has been ruined by her dealer.

I have some..

Done my winter wheels with it

Given to me by a guy in a Nissan Dealership (IXTAR G3)

Its pure ceramic sealant and very very good indeed

BUT

I very much doubt that the car will have been adequately prepared before its applied

If done properly, it should last 12 to 18 months + without the need for reapplying

Well i have told my dealer not to put any crap on the car and ill get it taken to a detailer to be properly treated.. be that a ceramic or just a good wax i dunno whats better.

Especially after seeing what  a mess they have made of the 208 (metallic black, swirl marks and then sealed it in with their "peugot protect" product.. currently wrangling with the dealer to get it sorted as they are blaming the sealant when its clearly the fact it was probably washed with a sponge by their valeter before it was put on) They are even stating that they can take the product off but it might crack the paintwork?!!!!

My previous MPS had a new car protection detail done on it back in 2008 - although that was just a wax rather than one of these ceramic things.

Gtechniq do a crystal lacquer (C1) coating that is chemical resistant and offers a degree of scratch protection and with products like C1.5 and C2v3 being wipe on wipe off is very easy to maintain the impressive hydrophobic qualities. Shinearama in Altricham and Griffiths in Warrington are accredited detailers for Gtechniq.

Though there are many products out there that do something similar. Look up some in your area and ask if it's okay to pop round and discuss somethings, you can also see what they do and basically get an idea of how well they do things and if you'd trust your car in their hands.

It needs machine polishing which will remove the sealant and the swirls, then resealing after an IPA wipe down...or wax applying

'Valetors' at dealerships are dreadful at polishing and typically use the wrong pads and too aggressive polish

I have some G3 here for the mongrel's windscreen.  Looking forward to comparing to the nano coating offered by Ombrello / Aquapel.  It comes highly recommended, but that's as much as I know at the moment.

I use GTechnik G3 Jason...now called G5....Not to be confused with Ixtar G3 as described above

Its very good but make sure you polish and IPA the glass before you apply it

G3 Glass Coat is a brand name and why Gtechniq had to change the name of the product G3 which was called Glass Coat, now G5 Glass Coat.

If you havnt had this done yet, have a chat with Matt at artdeshine, and the other one to look at is Max Protect.

Matt has a unit top end of manc (just off the m62).

Hope it helps.
