Yeti price increases after Monday 21 October - is the price definitely fixed once an order is made?

Featured Replies

Just a thought - there's another two days to get Yeti orders in at the old price before Tuesday's price increases.

A while back, even though an order had been put in at a particular price, a manufacturer's price increase was still applied if the increase took place before delivery.  So you ended up paying the price at the delivery date, regardless of the price when you actually signed the deal.

I'm assuming all that's now changed - it never was very fair to customers.

Can we take it that anyone signing up to a nice new Yeti before Tuesday's price increase is guaranteed to have it delivered in January/March/April whatever at the price agreed today?  I'm sure there are plenty of current Yeti owners who have practical experience of this - given the waiting list!

I don't have a current order, but when I ordered my Yeti back in March it was on the basis that the price would not go up, but also with the comfort that if prices dropped, or if Skoda introduced some additional discount or freebie offer etc, that I would get that too (the price was 'capped' I suppose).

I have a current order, and can confirm the old prices are fixed until delivery.

Only thing than can change is the valuation of your P/X if you have one. Need to ensure the dealer price protects that as well if there's an overrun on delivery, or that their willing to give you a loan car while it turns up.

I think you will find that if the price of the goods that the dealer is supplying (the car) increases... then the dealer can cancel the contract (order) and refund any deposit paid.

Most if not all dealers have the above, or similar, written into their terms and conditions bumph.

It leaves them able to renegotiate... or walk away if they want to.

Normally true, but this price freeze was underwritten by Skoda UK (not the dealers), so doubt if they would be able or want to renegade on their offer .

The order price is what you pay unless you agree a different deal close to delivery. A good dealer will always price the deal on what he knows and what he feels comfortable with. He takes the risk if any and will know what the factory will and won't stand by with him. So either he has a set deal and can give you the bargain you agreed, or he won't and can't.

That was precisely my concern - the T&Cs do almost invariably allow dealers to do just that.  I doubt SUK would be too happy if they did, though, and from the posts above I'm guessing that it doesn't happen.  With a long gap between purchase and delivery, and price rises taking place, it struck me as a risk, though.

I put my order in and asked for a March delivery and a 14 plate. My trade in price is fixed till delivery.

Its not got a definite build date yet and the dealer expects not before week 47.

Same for me, March delivery trade in worked out for then, and the price given is the price I pay  . not been given a build week yet but don't expect one till production starts.

I have a (provisional) wk 50 build slot, so expecting (hoping) for delivery sometime in January. Not too bothered about a "14" plate as have a personal plate from day one, and there really is not that much difference in the trade price of a 2014 (63 plate) and 2014 (14 plate), 2/3 years down the line at resale time. Truth is.......I hate waiting.

The dealer will base his p/ex price on what he anticipates will be the trade value at delivery time. I have just traded my car against the FL and the p/ex price for letting it go now is "considerably" more than the price at 1st March 2014. So, I agreed to let the dealer have it by the end of October, and will slum it in the wife's car until then (she hardly ever uses it anyway).

I have just acquired a plate ready to put on it. so like you say the difference between 63 and 14 plates may not be significant. the longer I wait I suppose I will get a bit more use out of my old one.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, I ordered a pre F/L Yeti that has been rolled over to the F/L version.

Importantly the price hasn't changed - "price protected" was the phrase used by the dealer.

Ordered a facelift yeti today dealer fixed price . They wouldnt put a price on my current yeti to part exchange due to the later build date for the 170 being march/ april? Im going to try and sell it private. Askd for a price and was told they cant put a price on it yet?

Sounds about right.

Difficult to anticipate what will happen to the trade price of the pre FL Yeti, now the new one is out, and I suspect that is why the dealer can't value it 6 months down the line.

Yep I guess nobody knows how well they will hold their value . As the dealer said it will be the old model but hopefully they will continue to hold their value. Im sure lots of people will be after tidy low milage original yeti.
