taking winters off for a bit

Featured Replies

Well I think I put my winters on a little too early 2 weeks ago. I can't believe the weather we're having so far so I've decided to put my summers back on and wait for snow at least. It's only a 30 minute job anyway.

Hi I have only just taken mine off - and that is because I changed my Yeti this week

Normally look at fitting winters myself at the end of October but this year it's remained mild so far; last year at this time it was snowing and the winter boots were already on :giggle:

See how things develop but I'm holding off until the temps are more consistently low.

Again :giggle:

Again :giggle:

Afraid so - Decided I wanted a DSG

Wow, 30 minutes, Andy....That must be some kind of record.

Save yourself the trouble Stan.

I pay the local tyre fitter to do it 5 mins there, 20 mins to do the job and 5 mins back home.

As for cleaning the wheels that came off, that's what a fit son is for. :)

I'll sit in the warm with a nice cup of tea :p

I think thats what I'll do next time. The garage only charge £10 to change them all over. It's a lot safer than me sat half in the road trying to do it.

Just put mine on yesterday, the weather is unusually mild but it's verging on frosty in the mornings and I tend to do morning trips to the airport (5am or so)

I take mine to Silbury Skoda who change them over free of charge.

Last time they changed them they found a nail in one of my tyres, they removed the nail and fitted a plug, again free of charge.

That's good service

I also put mine on nearly two weeks. They said snow! Gggrrr. Don't several long distance trips since too! Oh well, not bothering fitting summer tyres again now as would need to source wheels and then mess around. BRING ON THE SNOW!

Winter tyres are a waste of money. Its idiots like you lot who cause accidents messing around in the snow. Take my advice and stay indoors when the snows bad.

Get a grip fella.

Another one on my ignore list, only just cleared all the names off from the last lot of idiots trolls  :giggle:

Thanks very much for your considered view on this matter.  Looking back on your past contributions your opinions are valued and helpful.

With regard to the minor spat on 2nd October....

Bet they dont cure it as its a normal effect. I await your outcome.

PS. BAR ME , Who you kidding.

Take no notice, we all know you have the forum's best intentions in mind.

^^^^

You used up those ones you bought off me years ago in my Ibiza days then :D

Now then stranger! How long ago was that 6 years ago!? I destroyed what was left of them after winter by using them down at Santa Pod!

14.73 on a PD130 with 165bhp tho ;) So they gripped well!

Put mine on yesterday.  All things considered, I decided that it was better to put them on before the salting starts.  Despite earlier comments, I am sold on winter tyres.

Went to pick my lad up from Bridlington a couple of nights back at around 10:30/11:00pm and was surprised to find a gritter out working on the road. Knew the temps were a little chilly but not that chilly and yet to see any frost round here.
