Fabia 1.4 Mpi To Be Phased Out?...

Featured Replies

Hi all read recently on the www , (can't remember the site - sorry!) that the new 64bhp 1.2 12v 3 cylinder engine is going to replace the 68 bhp1.4 8v mpi unit currently use in the Fabia.

Anyone know if this Gospel?:chatter:

Had heard something similar - it's to do with efficiency and emissions, etc. I think...

Interesting, have had a go in 3 pot 65 bhp Polo, whilst wifes' Polo was in for annual check up, and I must admit it seemed pretty sprightly.

More likely my right foot was heavier ' cos it was a courtesy car!

Well, they're good, smooth, economical engines for small cars around town...probably not suitable for frequent motorway thrashing if the 3 pot 1.0 Corsa I had to drive was anything to go by!

Mmn.....Vauxhall products not exactly a favourite of mine at the momet having been pranged by a Nova, and secondly my Dad reckoned the Daewoo Matiz courtesy car was better than the Corsa courtesy car he had, after his Rover 400 series ended up in a field "courtesy" of a Ford Focus taking a bend to quickly, ending up on the wrong side of the road!

As my Dad said "Head on, or the field" So field it was....

Sounds like your family isn't having much motoring luck at the moment... :(

Main problem I have with Vauxhalls is the transmission - always very sluggish and unresponsive. That, and the horrible interior design, horrible exterior design, naff adverts, pointlessly large yet inexplicably slow engines, etc... :D

**** happens......

Back to Vauxhalls....had to drive one for work a while back, too many years ago, an Astra diesel.....took me 15 mins to find out how to find bl@@dy reverse!.....LIFT!!!

I can laff about it now ;->

yep i'm afraid so

Hi LXI,

I just bought a Fabia Combi Comfort w. 1.2 engine, and the dealer confirmed the rumour you asked about...

He also claimed the engine to be as effective as the older 1.4, in spite of it's lower output - due to technology / torque improvements.

Just joined the club, here's my Fabia 1 day after purchase

I previously had an Octy company car, and was a bit worried "downgrading" to a Fabia - but I simply love it! :p

Best regards,

Nice pic!

I'm almost tempted to test drive one, but seeing my existing car is being fixed, I'll stick with that for the moment......still awaiting a pay rise!

Enjoy your new toy!:) :(

If itt is true, and I have been told that it's not confirmed, then they are doing it to bring the engine within the lower band for emissions and therefore road tax.

So that'll be that confirmed, then.

Overhere(NL) you can not buy a new 1.4 MPI for about

4-6 months now..... I wonder...can you still buy them???

You can????? MMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm

So the people that like the 1.4 MPI in new cars have to hurry,

for I really think....it's over, the 1.2 will take over.

So..there did the last ones go?????
