  • well, it's finally on. PITA this whole thing has been. Some paint flaked off in the process and there's some small amount of filler and paint needed. Still glad I did it (just about)!     SWMBO

  • well, having not done anything to the old fella over the year apart from fitting the GT bumper I thought I'd make a small update.   As some of you know my car was put on JKM's 'heartbreak' rollers a

It's PITA having to remember what was done and when then having to go back and update retrospectively but anyway,,,,,,,,,,

The car was picked up on January 13th 2010. First impressions were that if felt a bit quicker than it should be and pulled very well. I was lurking on this forum looking for answers and even wondered if it had been mapped at some point. Only one thing for it I thought and then found a rolling road day being organised by Brisky at JKM in Portsmouth so booked myself in. Results were fairly impressive IMO for a PD100 engine.

A mapped car should make ~140 IIRC so it's not mapped, just quicker out of the box for some reason which I still can't fathom but I'm also not complaining about either :D

So, in 2012 I picked up 5 yes count 'em 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 16" alloys that were previously attached with five bolty type things to a MkI Octavia L&K for the princely sum of £100. Many thanks to Vladsoilerofcarpets and comiserations to RandallTheVandal who had to fit his old Ronal dinnerplates to the Octy :D

Went up to my dads on friday and collected the bumper kit, bigger box than I thought but got it back ok.

Got to get it sprayed to match and then fit it, instructions are very 'IKEA' and straightforward

Suspension upgrade; (apologies for not posting this bit sooner)

In August(ish) 2013, an  AP lowering kit turned up via DPM Performance, dropped by 30mm. Mahoosive difference to the cars stance and handling without compromising ride comfort. Also replaced were front top mounts and bolts and rear bump stops.

Thanks to member Horsee for the help; suspension all swapped over in less than two hours!

pic to follow.

September 2013

Tracked at Castle Combe. Wow, RARB needed STAT. Lowered suspension helped but TBH, I pushed harder than I should have for a track virgin and shat myself. Second session duly handed over to Pastyboy :D

I'm more than 100% sure, I think, I'll be keeping the Polo seats so I may sell on the Sport covers. Keep an eye out ;)
