Spark plug help . . . Not the typical

Featured Replies

Now Ive used the search button and found most people use oem ngk for standard and 7e's fr remapped cars. How ever im in a bit of a pickle as Ive been told thw car has been mapped and running 210bhp. I have no proof and would like to say it doesnt feel 210! So was just woundering based on this, would it be best advised to run standard ngks with 0.7mm gap?

The reason im changing plugs, is it has a mega flatspot at low revs. Ive already replaced the coils especially 2nd gear 1k-1.5k rpm. I understand this low rang le will be putting the engine under load and can expect lag etc but the flat spot feels alot like a missfire and worse when cold.

Any advise greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I doubt that the spark plugs are the problem, more likely some sensor is playing up.

First, scan for fault codes and especially take a look at block 002 and 032.

I'd be going up the road to Shark in Mansfield,to see what you've actually got.

I guess block 002 and 032 are sectors in vag-com? If so I only have a code reader and no code displayed!

This and the flat spots makes me think coolant sensor is on the blink, which effects fueling,

Does it have any trouble starting ever ??

No starting issues, just very sluggish to move when cold unless revs above 1500 rpm. Does feel like over fuelling tbh.

Might change the coolant temp sensor 1st then

What mileage are you on. It may be worth a change anyway.

Done 115k miles, checked plugs and seems no1 and 4 have recently been replaced but 2 and 3 seem older plugs but all ngk audi marked. The previous owner had some misfire issues so guess he kept costs down by replacing just 2 plugs? Ive checked the gaps and there all good at 0.7mm. Since taking them out and refitting it feels a little more responsive! Although i did repair this at the same time

Seems the BOV has been getting the brunt of the oil spray!
