Hey guys! I have finally gotten round to painting the callipers/drums on my Monte and i must say that they look great! I'm really pleased with the outcome.

at first i had a problem as i intended to use the jack that Skoda supply with the car, but after a while and i saw the give in it.. i decided that i just couldn't risk it, so had a trip to halfords; where i purchased a jack and 2 axil stands. they worked much better. just took me a while finding the adequate place to put them under the car, as i didn't want to damage anything.

So yeah; Here we go...

This is before i went to get the new jack..

So you have two garages, this isn't helping :(

Looks very good. What paint did you use on the calipers?

I'm not sure what the small calipers look like painted red, could you take a pic of the car side on showing both wheels?

Initial thoughts..........looking very good!

Trolley jack and axle stands definitely the way to go

Looks good Jay, need to do the drums on mine before the salt goes down on the roads.

Gotta hand it to you, for your first car you're not scared to have a go.

The car's coming along really nicely Jay, we'll see you go Hybrid Turbo after Christmas right?

You are managing to keep those Trinity wheels (well the whole car) really nice and shiny too, good job.  Have you got some tyre dressing on there though?   Given how much black you have on the car and how good those alloys look a wipe round those tyre sidewalls with some tyre gel would darken them up really nice and keep the whole look nice and dark.  If you wanted something easy to get your hands on from say Halfords, Meguiars Gold Class Endurance is pretty good and doesn't tend to be too slingy.  Just a thought to finish off your good work getting it so clean.

On the off chance this is just a lighting thing on the photos and you have done this already, apologies for teaching you to suck eggs.

yeah i might think about getting some of that, i have some maguires polish which i am yet to use.. i need goodish weather to do it, I'm trying to keep her really clean..

im not sure wether ill go with a new turbo, but the thought would be great!

I'm thinking of in the future to either remap, or there is a box i can fit which boosts it to 105+ and maybe a new induction(K&N) who knows.. its all in the future  :giggle:

This is an excellent website I use for my detailing kit.

Also take a look at www.detailingworld.co.uk to see just how far you can go with things, or just get some pointers on a good routine.  It's really informative on do's and donts.

The condition your car was in on the photos you would only need to pop some tyre gel on an old cloth or if you have one a sponger applicator and wipe over the tyres, dead simple and takes no time unlike a polishing and waxing the bodywork.

Given that winters coming in, I would get something nice and durable on there, a really nice one for me is Collinite 845 Insulator Wax, its really simple to apply and is good for bodywork and your wheels.
