I read the elegance standard equipment is also including the rain sensor.

Is the sensor used also to adjust the windshield wiper speed/interval or you have to do it manually?

It's automatic, as you suspected.

 

Some people don't like it and would prefer a traditional variable speed intermittent.

 

Ok, sometimes it goes a bit haywire (or it did on my Mk2) but turning it off and then on again in IT crowd style seems to sort it.

 

Most issues are caused by dirt on the windscreen where the sensor is.

The intermittent adjustment switch adjusts the sensitivity of the auto wipers so just adjust that for the sensitivity you'd like.
