What's a hybrid pd130 like to drive?

Featured Replies

Hey.

I'll be fitting the hybrid PD130 turbo later this year and was wanting some personal reviews and thoughts! I've been looking into them so much and would really like a bit of advice, how to drive the car after it has been remapped etc.

I've never been out in a remapped PD130 let a lone a hybrid one so I really can't wait.

Just wanting to hear some opinions, good or bad of what they're like to drive!! Probably been done to death but I can't find exactly what I want.

Thanks, Daniel!

Perhaps you could sit under the kitchen table making loud noises that sound like tyres squealing and an engine being thrashed up and down the gearbox as you lean from side to side.

If you're old enough to drive one, you're old enough to patiently wait and find out  :giggle:

Going from a standard vrs to a mapped one the difference was unreal. The thing is how it drives will be down to the map, mine is really smooth but you could have a different map and it might spike like a bitch. Powerwise it will be a hell of a increase and you'll be impressed with just a remap but add a hybrid turbo too and it will put a smile on your face

So you have a standard pd130 and are going straight to a hybrid? Why don't you get it mapped first and enjoy it for a bit and then go hybrid? Lol

Hiya mate, well my turbo has done 130k miles and I've just fitted a new fmic and wouldn't want the turbo to destroy everything in its path if I was to remap it!

Plus I wouldn't want to pay for two remaps as I'd want two custom ones with dyno before and after runs etc.

Where's the fun in that? :D  When I did my pd130 conversion I went straight for a stage 2 PD150 hybrid for a 70bhp+ jump in power :D

I'm doing the same.... I'm a tight arse and don't want to pay to map it twice :D

Going straight to hybrid makes sense if that is your plan! I had my map on about 12 months then went hybrid and now I'm hoping to go GTB making my second remap redundant again :(

Modding is a dear game but a very fun one!!

I've gone from driving my standard vrs for about 2/3 months and now gone straight to a pd130hybrid with a fmic and the power is much better! Boost kicks in at 2k and is just instant power, I seem to hear the boost running down the pipes a lot louder but it is more fun than standard :)

It will drive like a PD130 on roids

The difference tends to be the same lower down, perhaps slightly less pickup at very low revs, but that's good for the clutch/flywheel.  It however should have noticeably more ability to hold good power toward the redline, where the stock turbo would run out of puff, and you'd need to change gear,  So "revvy" is the word I would use.
