Hi Everyone,

I recently bought a Octavia PD170 vRS and its a fab thing to have. Having a forum like this for tech support will add to the enjoyment, as I like to get my hands oily.

Being an '07 plate there are a few issues I am looking forward to working on to get it up to the standard I'd like. First up is to get the sills repainted and new stone chip protection fitted so they don't get as damaged again soon. The other task to address is the occasional (and apparently well known!) stutter on acceleration cured. My plan is to clean up the MAP sensor and clean the EGR valve too and hopefully remove the problem. I know there are aftermarket options (Shark remap and EGR delete pipes, etc) but I'd like to keep things standard for now.

So far the driving experience has been fun, exploring the power, but I've not had that first magical drive where everything 'clicks' and I have a blast. Part of the issue is because it is a diesel, with a narrow power band compared to petrol. (I didn't realise how much I liked wringing out a petrol car right through the revs). Also the weather has been poor and the front tyres are pretty shot, so a bit of caution has been reigning things in. I'm looking forward to fast, fluid drive soon!

Anyway, fun times ahead with the new car and looking forward to using the forum.

Regards,

Davidoff.
