Lane assist - do you like it?

Featured Replies

Granted I've only just got the car, but i'm finding Lane Assist very odd. I know I can turn it off (but don't want to), but the sensation of it adjusting my steering is extremely weird. I also feel like it's trying to drive further away from the kerb and closer to the centre line than I would.

How is everyone else finding it?

It's naf and it's off!

I'll wait and see what it does next Friday, if it tries to take charge of the steering too much then it will be deactivated, if it's passive and let's me get on with steering then it maybe accepted.

Same as I experienced in the start, but now I am used to it and don't mind it. But yes it likes to steer against the center of the road a bit more then I would.

Give it some time and you get used to it.. :)

I like it, barely even notice it now.

I've tried it, thought it was good, however having it switched on and that annoying icon being present on the dash bugged me so I switched it off!

Found it very useful in some extremely heavy rain on the motorway where it was near impossible to see the lane markings, lane assist had no trouble keep me in my lane.

I found it a very strange occurrence and it became annoying as you get to 40mph then the twitching starts.

Switched it off for the remaining duration I had the car.

Im on my way down to north wales this morning.and was wondering when I get my mk3 vrs, would the lane assist work in conditions like this morning, bright low sun reflecting off the wet carriageway with the white lines a greyish shade,i think probably not,but to me thats when I need it,cos found myself wondering a bit, with the strong sunlight

agreed - for now I like it. find it good. Novelty might wear off after a few k's mind you.

Now I've actually read the relevant section of the manual, it seems 'Adaptive Lane Assist' tries to maintain the position in lane you establish.

Works quite well. :-)

I thinks really good, it's kind of trained me to stay in the centre of my lane better so I hardly feel it take over now but on the rare occasion it does.

So if it behaves badly it's how YOU as the driver have taught it?
