Don't suppose anyone has one of these?

It got awarded best head unit somewhere. I've had a play with one and they're absolutely incredible.

I know of a couple people on here that have the same one. I think Matt does. Mattvrsestate

Which one do you mean mate?

just a quick note Pioneer are actually used as an added extra by some dealers/manufacturers like subaru and suzuki, I know vw teamed up with kenwood and they do one for around £900 and its designed to work with the car so all the factory functionality is still there.

Sorry mate. I meant the top one.

They really are super nice. The touch screen is really clear and responsive also :)

Hmm, not sure. Would be a great idea if it would work.

That's what my friend used to do. He had the USB cable extended into the glove box when he stored his external hard drive, with 100's of movies and music etc.

Bought the app radio head unit today. I have an external hdd on its way and also a reversing camera. I will prob wait until the other bits arrive before I install it all though.

what exactly would you like to know mate?

It's in his T5 van.

Should be super super easy to run a usb cable into the glove box of a fabia. The glovebox comes away by removing like 6 or so torx screws, then it just drops down and you can easily get acess to the back of the stereo.

I've just got myself an arm rest with a flip up compartment and i'm going to run a usb female cable into it so things can be plugged in and left in the arm rest rather than the glove box :)

Sorry I should have made that clearer lol. If he has the AppRadio how did he get a external hdd to work on it? I can't get mine to work with it.

Start by making sure it's in the correct format.

Probably requires MS DOS (fat 32)

I'm pretty sure they come out the box formatted in NTFS

Once you have reformatted the drive, pioneer don't like anything bigger than 250gb. If yours is larger than this, I suggest doing a partition on the drive. One for music, and the Other for pictures and video, this will then fix the issue :)

Ok mate, for that to work, you need to format it to FAT 32 as it is probably in NTFS

Do you use a PC or Mac?

I've not formatted it myself. It came "preformatted" to suit windows.

I use a windows 7 netbook.

You need to format it to FAT32

Otherwise it just won't work.

Right so I've formatted my HDD to FAT32 but i can't get the Headunit to read or even acknowledge the device.

Have you put any data on the drive yet?

Yes two films.

Yes two films.

What format are the films in?

How have you put the films on, in terms of folder structure and naming?

Does the HDD have a power light? Is that light lit up when connected?
