Rain & Hatch Opening

Featured Replies

I have a question for all the new Octy hatch owners.

Have Skoda designers sorted out the highly irritating issue where rain water that gathers on the hatch dribbles / runs into the boot when the hatch is opened ? ( i cannot understand why they didnt sort this out for the MKII).

Curious to know this also

Issue still there unfortunately. Same with the doors - you get a wet seat!! If you open the hatch slowly it tends to cope better. However, this workaround will not work for the doors!!

From my point of view the answer is partly. My Octy 2 was much worse than my new car. Today after heavy rain on opening the hatch some drips fell into the boot area but not the flood I used to get.

I agree that Skoda have not solved the problem fully, but do know that other car makes have similar issues.

You can use door bump strip to cure the problem.

Mine seems fine, the water seems to drip into the channels fine.

Not noticed an issue on mine. Seems to run down the channels ok and doesn't drip into the boot.

Drips in boot, not flood. Drips onto back seats when open rear doors. Full shoe wash when open drivers or front passenger doors. In the faults thread someone is having the shoe wash feature disabled this Friday I believe. Mine is in for first service in a fortnight.

No problems with rain and doors whatsoever.

Boot is a different matter though, pours in on both sides when you lift the hatch.... Terrible design.... a 7 year old Mondeo doesn't do this, no excuse for a brand new anything doing this.

My old Vauxhall Vectra 2006 had the same problem with the tailgate opening when it had rained water coming in.

My current 2010 Mondeo's tailgate fills with water and pours out of each corner when opened. Was hoping a new car was going to cure this. :-(

The new Mondeo (2011 ->) has multiple elongated holes along the bottom edge of the tailgate to cure this. It's a possible home-made fix, but i guess not many new-car owners would be willing to start drilling 8mm holes through their tailgate :-P

Edit: Just read on TalkFord forum that this mod to the new Mondeos makes no difference whatsoever...never mind...
