Heated FRONT screen.

Featured Replies

Seems absolutely barking mad to me that you can't get one for our Skoda's

Can get one for my daughters 52 year old Moggy Minor though, for a mere £110 too!

I would love it in my car.

You'll have to buy a Yeti then, as they are an option for us!!

Had one in the Mazda and really miss this after only a few frosty days with the Civic. Some say Ford has the technology patented. Maybe other manufactures have to pay a licence fee?

I believe the Ford patent has now expired, which is why its becoming more common in other brands. The main reason its elusive on Skodas will be that VAG want to keep some of the toys for their more expensive brands.

Hi, the heated windshield I had in my 2001 Ford Mondeo was actually the only thing i missed when I sold it in 2004 and I haven't had it since but thought it was kind of standard in any modern and well equipped car ... but no, still missing it ...

Have a nice one ...

My youngest has one on his Fiesta, and oh how he chortles at me struggling to demist for 10 minutes as he calmly drives away after 1.

I know I go on about....(that annoys some in here)..pointless technology on modern cars (auto wipers, auto headlights, and other such pointless, IMO, glitzy sales brochure nonsense)  but , shouldn't the manufacturers REALLY be concentrating on providing a vastly more important safety feature to prevent many accidents caused by impatient drivers in a hurry to get going first thing in the morning?

I remember a few years ago, a woman from 'round the corner that did just this, and ploughed into the back of one of my neighbours cars parked on the road 'cus ..."I couldn't see it".

Imagine if that had been a pedestrian? Fat lot of use your auto lights and wipers would have been then ey?

She was only doing 10mph because she was struggling to see through the peephole she's wiped into her frosted screen, but the damage was enough to need both cars to be low loaded away.

Can't spec it on the current A3, so I doubt it's that.

Yup I think so. I had one on a 2001 Focus and it's an option I've hankered after ever since. I only ever saw it on expensive cars other than fords like the S-Class. I guess they were willing to pay the patent license.

Fantastic option not just for snow and ice but for demisting too.

Got one on my yeti so they are filtering slowly down into some models

have one on my Suerb , fitted as factory option when ordered.

I wish I could spell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not much use if you have a newer one though. I'm surprised skoda haven't introduced them yet. ******* need them with all the moisture in the Fabias!!

Is that a nod to another failed door seal or a general pop at the geriatric nature of the Fabia driver?

The mrs had this on her F*rd Mondeo. I'll admit it was nifty to press a couple of buttons and be away in no time

I've got one on the v6, although I've not had to use it yet!

Option on the Octy Mk3 now isn't it?

So available on the Yeti, Octy and Superb now then. We're making progress.... slowly.

I've had one fitted in my 22 year old Ford, £100 for the screen, £20 for fitting, £10 for a wiring loom and a couple of hours getting it all to look factory fitted. It's handy for demisting as well.  Along with the heated washer jets, seats and mirrors, winter won't be so much a chore.

Another item that should be standard on ALL cars.

Seemed to have generally sorted it on mirrors now which is good.

Heated washer jets are only useful in conjunction with washer fluid at the correct winter dilution, otherwise it simply freezes in the pipes that lead to the heated washer jets :)

On Jacks car??

Failed door seal. What a pain in the arse!!

We have them in our work Transits, they are brilliant things, I wonder how Ford got the patent, I remember them being fitted to our old Leyland buses from the early 80's

I've been a bit inventive with mine, a relocated washer bottle sited in the engine bay that sits on a coolant hose, washer pipes wrapped around a heater hose, plus a heat exchanger made up of rigid brake pipe wrapped around a heater hose with the washer pipe connected to it.  That coupled with good concentration of screenwash usually keeps my washers working during winter.

I was going to say, the good lady wife's 1998 LR Discovery has one too (though in typical LR fashion, only two strips of it work now!), so can't be limited to Ford, as they didn't own Land Rover at that point.

Ford owned Land Rover until 2006

Older Jags have them too for the same reason.
