Paranoid Saxo owner

Featured Replies

Approached the start of a dual carriageway last night, and pulled along side a saxo at the front of the lights. Looked like a vts or vtr but not sure which as it had its owners personal 'touches'

Imagine my surprise when i look across to see that it has no rear seats and a FULL racing roll cage installed. So i think, ooo errr this might be one of them street sleepers. Lights turn to green and i briskly accelerate upto the speed limit easily passing the Saxo and all i can hear is his deafening exhaust behind me!

Why do people do this to normal cars  Maybe he is just really worried about the integrity of the Saxo if he crashes.....ermmmm

I bet it has never seen a race track in its life :P

I've seen all too many wreak saxo's so yeah I think it was for his own safety

On closer inspection, I think you might have discovered this was constructed from parts found in the plumbing department at B&Q... ;)

sad fact is you could be right I have heard of some owners using bit's of piping sprayed to look like metal..............tacky! At least it's a useful as the rest of the car

You sure it was his exhaust you heard, not the pipes rattleing in the back of his car ;-)

:rofl::rofl:

Actually i had my window half down and my friend in the passenger seat said

'Have you done something to the engine Andy, it sounds REALLY loud!! '

I said

'No mate, thats still the Saxo 20 feet behind us, i'v got my window open a bit  '

if it was a proper roll cage it would have been heavier thatn the car

maybe didnt remove the rear seats, the just fell out one day when he hit the dizzy heights of 40mph

my mate has just removed his rear seats from his Pug 106 Raylle - makes the car go faster apparently (lighter)

The saxo/106 performance variants (VTS/GTi) are fantastic cars (when they're running), but so many idiots seem to buy the 12bhp versions and spend 2 grand making them as quick as a VTS - why not just buy the VTS/GTi and own a quick car, then leave it alone!

yer jason... why do people do that?:rofl:

From my experience, people who drive Saxo's with roll cages don't like being outpaced by a young skoda driver :D

And his engine sounded like it was plenty 'trying'

I doubt it was a vts, those are quick and it looked too tacky

LMFAO!!!!

However, i do know a lad with a rallye 106 and i gotta say....i like it!

There are some fast Pugs and Saxos out there, for sure. They'd have the (std) Furby vRS for breakfast.

But why on earth anyone with the lowest spec Saxo would even bother trying, I just dont know.

The faster models are just that - fast - and they're hot hatches.

Having owned a bunch of 1.1/1.2 petrol cars over the years, they can be ok speed-wise, but unless you spend mega bux on them they're not going to get close. Mate of mine had twin carbs on his Peug 205, and that went like stink :D

My Bro used to have a 205XS, Twin Webber Carbies as std :) Went like Fook!!

Charvered Saxo --- little willy?

I think.

Watch out, say things like that and people will think you are talking about devonutopia! ;)

Incidentally, I was out in the AX 1.5D (rofl) the other day and some ***** tried to race me in their 1.0 Nova. AND FAILED MISERABLY. It was comical to see, honestly. And I had 2 passengers in the car - an old granny in her 80s and my pregnant wife (who got very irate when aforementioned ***** glued themselves to the rear bumper after the failure to overtake).
