show us your garage!

Featured Replies

How many of us actually use our garage to store our cars? Does anyone also use it as a work shop as well. Recently moved into a new house, only just cleared boxes from the garage and the Octavia now fits! Only just with the wing mirrors in because of the stone age garage door with hinges that take about 6 inches of the with of the door.20131114_141201.jpg

I'm going to remove this bit of the garage to make the door bigger. Will need a 8 foot by 6 foot door which will have to be custom made and will cost a bitScreenshots_2013-11-14-16-07-10.png

lol why?

Used to be a servicing garage for trains, hence railway lines in floor still.....

(bike now sold :( )

My garage is too small for a car, I did try and put the Golf in but had to climb out the window!  So it is back to being a storage room for bits and pieces like wheels and tools.

My other garage is a bit bigger... Well not really mine but I have access to it now and again when I need to lift the car up.  Handy to have.

Wish the Superb would go in my garage

Currently full of junk after clearing the garden and other bits and pieces - will hopefully clear at the weekend then the OH's Mini will be going in

Something appears to have fallen off the bottom of the Golf there :P

Never tried to get a car in. The empty space is taken up with this -

Also got an electric garage door with remote key fob which is really useful when I get home.

Can't take a current picture as it's full of boxes as the moment, moving shortly.

Had to demolish my garage when we moved into the new house- it was pre-fab concrete stand alone and there was some serious issues with rot.

Spent the last few months looking for a unit to rent but costs are extortionate and it would seem greedy landlords would rather have empty space than relent on their demands.

That is the spare one FUBAR, it was removed as it had near death symptoms lol

Ballsed that last post up, not sure why the words came in the middle. Some garage there, a skoda fanatic I see!

When we moved to Bristol my only ask was a house with a garage.

I had one at my last place and used it all the time... Needless to say

I didn't get what I wanted. I have recently bought a large 8 by 12 shed though.

But it's about as much use as a ashtray on a motorbike for anything car related.

My garage at my parents house, bought it cheap off a friend put it up and then realised car wouldn't fit, :giggle:  :giggle:

Since then its just slowly filled with car related stuff

Mine's tucked away every night, together with the washer, dryer, and all sorts of other paraphernalia. Mind you, it's 20' x 8' and was one of the reasons we bought the house.  A couple of years ago I had a Smart hire car, and I wondered which corner to put it in.

Can't wait to see BossFox's, will prob just look like this, but with more Skoda's:

Nothing that posh.

Sorry to disappoint! :giggle:

Trouble is architects have not cottoned on that cars have become wider and therefore need wider garages. The standard door has been 7 foot wide since I can remember.

Mike, you have to take into consideration the lintel/joist above the door, will need lengthening or other support.  Instead of having a custom up& over,  price up an electric/remote roller door, they can made in any width and are draught free.

After a second look, your garage was a carport and has been filled in at the front with the extra brickwork and up & over.
