Emailed dealer yesterday asking if build week was still 47,,,,,,,, no reply

I hate when they do that, and makes me loose all faith.

  • I have just had a call from my dealer saying my FL has been built and is at the port.  It will be their first FL on site in a few weeks. Looks like it will be ready before xmas so very Happy bunny.

  • What is wrong with the 'i want it now' mentality? In a capitalist market oriented system it is incumbent on the supply chain to meet customer demand. Those companies that are lethargic to the demands

  • But this is not the early days and they have been producing the Yeti for over 4 years now. Sorry but I, like some others, are not prepared to wait, and at 61 I am done with waiting. And, it is not 8 w

Is it just people who have ordered the 1.2TSI Outdoor that have found that their build date has slipped or have others?

I can't see my dealer being willing to do that.

Luckily i work from home so my wife's old car is probably enough, but if I had to drive a fair distance to work each day, something would have to be done. But if the car does pack up, I had wondered about buying one of the older used vehicles from the dealer and then p/exing it as the Yeti deposit. Hopefully the depreciation would not be too much for such a vehicle.

Admittedly it was only for about three weeks, but when the waiting period for my first Yeti was extended, the dealer lent me an Octavia demonstrator free of charge.

Dealer just confirmed my confirmed build week is still 47 ,,,,, :-)

That's great but I would want that confirmed (screen print off of their system?).

However, I have a suspicion it is just the 1.2TSI engine that is an issue, as someone else as previously stated

Just spoke to my dealer - most up to date build for my FL 1.2 Elegance DSG Outdoor in White has been brought forward from build week 04 to 49 (this was directly checked on SUK's database using the SLI - official order no) - its still at status 10 so can still slip either way until it goes to status 20 on their system!

That's great to hear Jedoka - bet you are well pleased, and some comfort to others who have the same model as you, including me.

Lets just hope that this is all a storm in a teacup.

@Truthseeker - Quite - it seems its all smoke and mirrors at the moment!

Or maybe even a "Dog & Pony show?".

Wish all goes well for those of you who have unexpected delays on your orders. Me being one who (willingly) waited 6 months for delivery (like many others here as well), I know how it feels and hope it turns out to be just a temp hiccup of the system.

I ordered (for wife) a 1.2 S manual, Shark Blue, on 15 Oct.  trackmyskoda showed a provisional 1403 build date, but now shows "Your order is currently awaiting a manufacturing build date."  But having got the pre-FL price, I guess I'll (or rather she'll) sit it out.

I hope it's not fatal.

I mean that deliveries are looking bad again just as things were looking up (see Jedoka's post #36) - ie; your build week has changed/put back,

Hopefully, if there are any new delays they will be short ones. But it's worth bearing in mind that Skoda are no different to any other car manufacturer in that the estimated build/delivery date for a factory order is just that - an estimate which is inevitably open to some variation.

A common source of added delay seems to be where Skoda (or whoever) have themselves had to estimate the likely demand for a particular component or assembly like the sunroof or a specific engine, only to find that orders taken outstrip planned and contracted supply (or eg that the engine or gearbox plant itself hits unexpected/unplanned supply problems with a given subcomponent for some similar reason).

And even the process of switching the line to the F/L model may have thrown up some unpredicted problems.

Of course Skoda should be on the case to ensure that such eventualities either don't happen at all or are minimised where they're unavoidable. But in the real world such problems still do happen. It's not in Skoda's interest to delay getting a new car to a customer - bad publicity and suboptimal cashflow back to the factory are just two of the consequences.

If delivery times have really increased, then I wouldn't be surprised if Skoda are prioritising production for different markets.

IIRC one of the reasons why the pre-FL delivery times came down was because of poor demand in Continental Europe. If that has reversed for the FL then that could effect UK delivery times.

Agreed, but what annoys me is once they have given you a "confirmed" build date then they should stick to it or, not give you one at all until they are certain they can deliver on it.

Just echoing a thought expressed on another thread here.  Given that the 2WD seems to be available to order in the Outdoor version only in the UK (and nowhere else), is this a factor in the delays?

Anyone been told of a delay on a non-Outdoor version?  Or an Outdoor 4WD?

I do hope we're not going to find that orders for Outdoor 1.2 TSIs are all going to be delayed - or, worse still, cancelled as a result of a SUK mistake.  The latter's probably an overreaction - I hope!

See Jedoka's post #36  - his build date for a 2WD Outdoor 1.2TSI had been brought forward.

I can't seem to make any sense at all from all of this.

As prodata mentioned, component supply can cause unforeseen delays. A few years back there were real delays for Yetis spec'd with sunroofs for example. If I remember correctly, the roof is the same part as installed in the Superb estate and demand outstripped supply (not made in house by Skoda).

Eventually, SUK deleted the roof option for quite a while to avoid excessive delays.

Had a look at several alternatives to the Yeti over the weekend, and have decided to wait, even if there is a substantial delay, although hoping there won't be.

I just know that if I buy something else, then the first time I see a FL on the road (especially in Jungle Green with the black Matterhorns), I would kick myself for not waiting.

Plan C (plan B was another model), is to buy a cheapo old banger until FL arrives, as the wife keeps complaining that she has to have seconds dibs on "her" car - such is life!

I'm on plan c. :)

Driving a 15 year old V70 2.5. I actually love it. That 5 cylinder sound is utterly glorious.

Hi. I just placed an order for my father yesterday on a 1.2 Outdoor SE with about a grands worth of options.

We weren't told anything about the 1.2 SE being Outdoor spec only, but went for this variant as he preferred the "Outdoor" look. We were told the FL production doesn't start until January by two dealers.

The Yeti is expected sometime in March when the 14 plate change comes in and in time for his 70th birthday.

Having convinced him to let me do the legwork to get him a decent discount, I hope his car doesn't get delayed until April....
