How often should a Skoda facelift 2010 fabia TSI be serviced?

Featured Replies

On variable intervals there is no sticker, the interval is determined solely by the on board computer (ecu) ,not only does it take driving style, cold starts etc into account, but also uses an "oil quality" sensor that continually checks the oil. Should the oil deteriorate, the interval (miles and days) is reduced. It does work well, I've seen it in action when a dealer filled my car with cheap non long life oil, the sensor picked it up and rattled the service interval down and down and down......

Basics for LongLife Service

this pdf file shows the conditions for petrol and gas skodas that affect and influence the duration /timeframe until the next variable service .

That is good in showing that Servicing is more than how often Oil & Filter gets changed.

Other Fluids, Filters, consumable parts subject to waer and tear and getting someone to check all these things for you.

Do you just not want to spend £40 on an oil and filter & run on what you have while doing not a very high mileage,?

then just keep on going on what you have then.

Personally its the filters i think about getting changed more than worrying about Oil which last a long time in the real world.

Oil works pretty good for a long time.

Oil filters restricting oil flow kill engines quite easily IME.

Air Filters can effect Oil Quality and fuel consumption.

Another experience.

Bought the 1.2TSI SE (86PS) new at end of November 2013. No 600 mile oil change service just a litre and told to keep eye on level. Got a 3 year service plan. Approaching 6000 miles called dealer to check about servicing. Told it was variable - anything between 500 and 20,000 miles depending of various criteria. Then when they saw I was on a service plan I was told 10,000 miles or 1 year. Checked the MFD it shows (in round terms) 12,500 miles or 500 days remain before service.

So: if the variable permits 18,500 or 650 days (in this case) yet the service plan is every 10,000 miles or 1 year, are the service plans a rip off?

The Service Indicator should have been changed to Fixed Servicing for the Service Plan.

You get told what comes with a Service plan in the way of Services and replacement parts in the Period it covers.

Hello goneoffSKi,

Why, if the car has the technology to support variable servicing?

On the basis the car's self monitoring predicts service period is approx 21 months (I'm unlikely to do 18,500 miles in that time), extrapolating forward the 2nd 'variable' service I could expect to be at 42 months. The service plan has me paying for 3 services before the 2nd 'variable' service is due. That does not seem a good deal for the customer.

When I asked, the service plan was no more expensive than the sum of a 10, 20 and 30K mile individual services - a good choice? Yes, but not against the variable service option,  BUT that information is (a) not in the sales brochure, (B) not on the Skoda UK website and © was not communicated at the point of sale.

Good,

you looked into it, sussed the costs and all that is involved, sorted.
