Driving home last night, had the Phone screen on chatting away to a friend.  Fuel light comes on, finish my call and flick back to the sat nag. Distance to home 21 miles, fuel range left 15 miles - gulp!

After turning off the ac, fan, heated seats, folding in the door mirrors, drafting behind a lorry and throwing all weighty luggage out the car I just made it to a petrol station with 10 miles of range showing.  Brimmed the tank with exactly 35 litres of fuel.

Now isn't the tank 35 litres, so I wonder how close to running out I actually was… how much fuel do you get in the filler pipe… a litre…?

Dunno, but other people with other models have reported doing up to 20 miles with the estimated range showing 0.

Well I picked my citigo up yesterday and got 38 litres into the car so I would say you can 3 litre in the filler neck lol

I have driven 20 miles past the 0 miles left range indicator. 39 & 37 litres into the tank. Its a big fuel filler neck!

I always chicken out at the 10 miles left mark. :)

Agree it's not worth running the tank dry just to see how many miles you can get out of it. Why would anyone want to fill the filler neck up with fuel either it's just overfilling and a hazard.

Hi I said in my earlier post got 38 litres in to the tank I didn't trickle fill when It clicked off I left at that , the car must have been running on fumes or the pump must be reading wrong amount but I agree it could be a hazardous if you leave like it in Hot weather

I reckon tank is not completely empty when gauges tells you so. Fuel pump suffers if it runs dry. Pump should be immersed in fuel all the time. That's why gauge tell you should refuel before tank really is too empty for fuel pump.

Thats interesting when i picked my car last week it was  a bare bones deal  the salesman i should get some fuel quickly as there hardly any in it,perhaps thats why i got so much in ,but surely skoda must put enough in to make sure the fuel pump is covered and for running around loading on to transporters.

I reckon Skoda put just enough to cover fuel pump, but not much more. So gauge shows empty even if it's not really. Better refuel before gauge tells tank is empty.

Just not worth running the tank down too low - just think of any potential c**p in the bottom of the tank that will get pulled through.

Totally agree that it would pull any c**p through that's why I'm a normally a tank half full guy:) but the last time i did in my fabia was coming home from holiday and the last petrol station before m69 was closed so by time I got at Leicester it was on zero and it took 43 litres so there was still 2 litres to go.

Ps when I traded the fabia in it was reading 5 miles to go lol

My CitiGo was delivered with just over half a tank full when i picked it up.

Just had the low fule light come on this morning. By the time I get home it will be on zero reserve milage. Will find out how much till it clicks off and let you know.

Mine would have been if I hadn't wanted to go and pick it from Bury st edmunds with my dealer friend and I had the choice of filling it my myself or getting mats and plate transfer thrown instead so I was in pocket lol

I guess fuel pump always suck fuel at same level, from bottom of the tank. No matter tank is full or not. Luckily there is a fuel filter in fuel line.
