MPG

Featured Replies

Haha - much like Timoctav - early starts and quiet motorways help.  I think the drop in temperatures is going to see my average fall though...

37mpg is exceptionally low for a TDi vRS.

my last brim to brim was 39mpg :(

That means I'm doing quite well with my petrol vRS at 29.9 on all but 1 urban drives at the moment.

Also interested in what people are getting in their 1.4 TSi estates as it was a toss up between the 2.0TDI and 1.4TSI for me. At the end of the day it was what was available in the Skoda stocklist which they could deliver within 3 weeks and in my budget. Very few 1.4TSi's around and the only ones that were were loaded with options which took the repayment figure I wanted too high.

The only 'fuel saving' you get on a DSG is when changing gear..... but that only applies if it changes gear as often as a manual which it doesn't....it changes gear more often, has different ratios, uses fuel for no forward motion when pulling away (wet clutch) and is at least 10mpg worse than equivocal engine with manual box.

Petrol DSG is an entirely different beast.... emissions are lower than a manual and economy is slightly better.

My MkII FL vRS TDi dsg has averaged 43.78mpg at the last fill-up and over the last almost 5,000 miles (from 9,283 to 14,145 total miles).  The Maxidot shows closer to 47.5 .  I would expect the MkIII to be better.

42.1 mpg on my latest visit.

Vrs tdi dsg

Fuelly has me averaging 50.1 mpg in my 2.0TDI Elegance Hatch.

That's doing the daily commute into work (a short A road blast followed by a lot of stop and start) together with a twice weekly long A road run and back to Warwick (approx. 40mile round trip each time).

On the motorway she is averaging 56-58mpg.
