Feeling down :O(

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Skoda people,

Having just scrapped my Felicia Moravia 96',  I'm missing her.  I bought her 5 1/2 yrs ago for £500 and with the help from a donor car, she's been into a garage 5 times and each time passed.  The wife, the kids, the dog, and the trailer have been all over the UK with her, and never really faultered.  This test she needed more tlc than I was willing to give. ( I can work on cars however loath it).  Having got £150 for her, the missus went on the inevitable facebook hunt.  There she found a Fabia Classic '00.  £180 complete with a pair of new rear shocks in the boot.

Shocks fitted and the nonworking o/s main beam resolved I shoved her towards my friendly local garage, for the dreaded MoT.

O/S/F Lower ball joint.

Roll bar link.

Rear brakes binding.

Mid section exhaust mount corroded/missing,

and exhaust mid/rear section joint leaking.

All of which Muggins here will have to rectify within 10 working days.  The afore-mentioned friendly local garage is re-MoT-ing her free of charge. (They owe me a few favours).  I'm an engineer and never wanted to be a mechanic.  Least of all curb-side.

Some-one slap me and tell me to man up!

Boris

Exhaust stuff is nothing. surely ? Halfords bodge up special job lol

Could be worse. Not bad for a £180 motor. Man up ! ;)

Think of it a challenge to give a new lease on life to a neglected classic..

Plus it gets you out of the house from SWMBO :)

All grey skies have somewhere where the sun shines through..

SWMBO sold her R reg Fiat Punto for £120 to a neighbour who had time to work on it.. He fitted new shocks, clutch, tore down the gear box and rebuilt it and gave the bodywork a good going over (I didn't want to say so, but it looked newer than her 59 plate)..  It lasted for 5 years before the engine blew.

On a £180 car?  Bargain!   I think that list is less than £180 even at a garage.  With you doing labour its just parts surely? :)   Patch up exhaust, couple of joints, and perhaps rear brake drums or something. :)

If he has a couple of joints nothing will get done.

Haha, made me chuckle.

£180 is an absolute bargain! Good find. The work that needs doing sounds so simple, good luck. I'm sure you'll manage easily :)

Rear brakes will be drums and just sticking.

Oh well SWMBO has her car back ............. Priceless !!!

All the best to you all.

Happy Christmas.

It would have been tough to find a £385 car that needed nothing doing to be fair. :)

and £129 of that is MOT and tax which I don't consider to be a real cost of the car being bought in the first place.  Still a bargain!
