Alloy Wheel Logos corroding

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Just noticed this evening when applying sealant that the logos at the centre of my Denom alloys have already begun to corrode around the chrome exterior edge.

I'm using Auto Glym Clean Wheels following by Auto Glym Allow Wheel Sealant on them, its about the third time I've cleaned them.

Has anyone else had an issue, can't believe the badge/logo has begun to corrode after just two months of ownership.

Ta

Advise your dealer ASAP and get some new ones under warranty.

Here I was hoping that the new style badges would be an end to this white worm that the old style badges has always suffered from

Happens on all of them eventually.....probably pointless getting them replaced as it will only happen again.

At least the wheels are OK....had to have four new diamond cut wheels on my old Fabia vRS after only 9 months and the second set had started to do the same just before I sold it a further 9 months later.

Is it possible that the cleaning agent being used is a little harsh? I generally just use soap, water and elbow grease on my (MK2 FL) alloys.

.....but isn't autoglym the stuff the dealers try and sell you with the lifeshine?

I did have some autoglym wheel cleaner that was really acidic - it might a right mess of your brake discs and you had to rinse it off really quickly, but I know they do a gentler version as well.

You can't beat a bit of soap, a gentle cleaner and plenty of elbow grease with a microfiber cloth.

Off Topic for a moment.

Boff are you into kinky stuff with that avatar?  :giggle:

Back to topic...

Check its not just the protective plastic film left on with damp behind. If not sure go to dealer. They are covered under waranty. My mk2 boot badge did this after a year or so.Replaced no problem

Autoglym wheel cleaner is pretty aggrisive stuff, Billberry is the stuff to use to avoid things like this.
