One more reason to love my Octy -

have just set a new personnel best for fitting things in the Octy.

a 5ft long 31inch tall 2 seater leather sofa, without even moving the driver seat from my position!

just popped out the seat squabs and folded the back seats down.

it slotted in like a glove to bring it back to my parents -

having finally got around to deciding what we are going to do to our kitchen, dont need the 2 sofas we'd borrowed wen we bought the gaff.

Gone a bit dark now, but i will post a couple of photos tomorrow.

Im well Chuffed!! Anybody got any bigger single items in there?

That's pretty impressive stuff. I'm not too sure how long it was but I once got an old bath in mine after doing up my bathroom!

yeah, the top corner sticking out just got squished down against the glass of back window.

perfect fit !

I always find the width of the estate opening to be the downside of the car.  There have been a number of items I have failed to get into my Octy which have fitted into my parents aging mk3 Astra estate.

Although the raised boot floor is a godsend when carting about heavy things.

I got a gilera DNA 50cc moped in my vrs hatch. That's with seats folded and the boot shut :) 6ft 3" or 1920 mm long.

You didn't smoke in your car did you!!

I got myself in the boot. Folded seats down and a comfy camping mattress to lay on. Soft pillows and a double Duvet on top. Who needs a camper van !

Of course not. It was dry of fuel anyway as had been stood for ages. I was impressed it went in!!

Clarkyzs........have you been chatting to my swmbo???? As she said the exact same thing last nite "I was impressed it went in"

It was the width i was worried about with the sofa too... took some wriggling

(and a lot of hoping that id measured the narrowest part of the boot and widest on the sofa)

Tried to get a sofa in mine, was too high , so that got tied to the roof bars instead.  The looks as I drove over the erskine bridge were priceless :)

I've had a hotpoint fridge freezer in her too, not sure on the size of that though.

It's definately one thing I love about the car, will be sad to loose her next year. But i'm going for a van instead, couldn't possibly have less boot space than I do now lol

All I have to offer is a king sized divan, and a Corsa.

The mattress was inside... just.

There's something wrong when you're standing next to a corsa and it's taller than you  :notme:

that has to be good for aerodynamics... hope there wasnt a cross wind that day!!

I know, they're amazing aren't they?

I was up in Norfolk last year, and a mate of mine happened to call me. To cut a long story short, he had a load of stuff in storage in Cambridge, and asked if I could bring a few boxes back down to where we both lived on the South Coast - and he'd pay me.

I turned up at the storage place - and once I had folded the seats down, and had a think about how to pack everything in - I got the flipping lot in there :D He was actually amazed (as was I as it happens. Although I couldn't see out of the rear-view mirror, lol!)

I also gig in a band. I have a 'loading' system sorted out now that means, without even folding the seats down, packs into the boot: A pair of huge floor-standing speaker monitors, two PA amps, three mic stands, a mixing desk, a storage box full of cabling, and a suitcase full of sundry gear like mics, mounts and miscellania.

Amazing cars. I have no idea where all the space comes from - even more amazing considering the Mk. 4 Golf floorpan they're based on. I just put it down to some Czechoslovakian magic :D
