I tried :(

Featured Replies

Took my father down to the local Skoda dealer but after a drive of the citigo he found the dash was far too bland, just a big slab of plastic was his words.

He bought a Hyudai I10 for cash today, reckons the better dash, 5 year warranty and a few other bits they put in the deal sealed it.

I did try but Skoda were offering virtually nothing on a cash deal.

That's purely down to the dealer.

Some are willing to negotiate a bit. :)

Can't fault him for being wise with his money. Me I would have done the same, I got a decent deal although nothing off for cash, cash is not king anymore sadly. Never really tried any other makes for a better deal, I was set on a Skoda as the name and realiablity sold it for me.

Why didn't he wait till January 1st and buy the brand-new 2014 model, Hyundai i10? :wonder:

Not keen on that

Dash is far too bland IMO :p :D

Prefer the functional Citigo dash which does not distract from the car. i10 dash too bitsy IMHO.

Happier with my dash, now its sporting a bit of carbon fibre to contrast with :)

The new i10 is supposed to be quite good, certainly some way better than the old one.

Having seen how Hyundai/Kia are coming on I wouldn't criticise it without seeing it.

Kind of figures they are doing deals on shifting the old stock.

Will be no different with the Citigo when it's finally time for a replacement.

Does a steering wheel need 16 buttons?

answer = No. you only need ONE for the horn (although my Ocky does have radio controls)

Not criticising the car, just not a fan of two tone dash ensembles that's all

Depends how much control you want of car functions without taking your hand off the wheel and looking for the button somewhere else I guess.

I agree with having control. However the driver should be concetrating on doing just that. Far too mang gadgets in cars nowadays in general which cause distractions. That is why I like the Citigo. Stylish and functional in a simplistic way.

Yes, I get that Damo. :)

Looking at this the dash comes in various options so there may even be a simple black one.

For the price, it does look like a good car.

And with pricing of this new and improved (and bigger) model so keen it does make sense why they'd be keen to shift the old i10 with discounts as the OP said.

And lets face it (not aimed at you) for some people it's natural to defend whatever we own as it justifies our choice.

You can quite easily negotiate around £1300 off the current i10 so it does make it good value for money especially with that 5 year warranty although values wont do well with the better i10 around the corner and ready for release. Ive never really thought the dash of the CitiGo looking bland tbh - I guess its all about whats right to expect for the price. Im always amazed at just how roomy it is inside for the external dimensions. :)

Think it has 17 lol !! (inc. the horn)

i'm moving from Hyundai to skoda because of bad fuel economy, getting just 42mpg from my i20. just waiting for my citigo greentech!

The new Hyundai i10 has had rave reviews from the motoring press. The top of the range automatic costs £10500.I will certainly have a look at it when its time for me to change probably in September 2014. However i still like the Abarth 500 automatic, and the Mini Cooper, plus of course the Citigo.

Then again i am tempted by some good used cars for the same price.Anything from 2 to 4 years old like the BMW 320D,Mercedes C Class, Jaguar XF,and the Chrysler 300.

I do a low mileage so MPG is not a problem, but other costs could be, Road Tax, Tyres, service etc.

As a drive to Tesco's car ,the i10 is superb value, but as a normal mileage car it's really Chalk V/S Cheese in comparison to the Citigo.

My Dad still moans about how it's not as economical as his old 1997 Honda Civic...

I do have the i10 auto. (current shape, of course), and would most certainly have advised waiting to see the new version rather than get the current one - unless it really was cheaper than a really cheap thing.  I see that "learnwithmike" has joined Briskoda (see above).  He, along with myself, was a regular contributer to a Hyundai forum and will be familiar with all the "topics of conversation" which arose over the term of the, soon to be, 'old' model.  There were a few and it took a long time for HUK to sort some of them.  Transmissions were always an issue.

There will be old models i10's around for ages during the overlap with the new one - so discounts will be rife. Much more so than now, I'd have thought.

The colour or 'slab' like nature of the dash fall in to insignificance if you're unlucky enough to get a rogue i10 as you're very much in the hands of their customer service regime and if you've been further unlucky enough have one of their, less than helpful, dealers near you - then you're in for "interesting times".

I will look at the new one but I now have a wealth of experience to look back on when considering an exchange and would do so with utmost caution.

The good bit is the fact that it does have 5yrs warranty (which is good if your dealer is on your side) - and it does have 5yrs RAC Breakdown and recovery..  Also, it's a good idea to vigorously negotiate a deal on three years servicing when buying.  Servicing is dearer than you might think.  Check insurance premiums too...not as cheap as you might think.  My Yeti is the same as the Hyundai.

TBH he did not push the Skoda dealer on the Citigo that much but they said they had very little in it on brand new.

Not sure if he has pre ordered the new shape i10, if that is possible but by the sounds of the discounts and extra bits think it is the old shape, they are trying to move on to get ready for the new model :)

I was keener for him to go for the Citigo, as we have one and it is the first car in over 25 years driving with too many cars to mention driven, that my wife truly loves driving and it has boosted her driving confidence way beyond any other car we have owned.

It is so simple to drive, good visibility precise gear changes and nice and compact for her.

My gran has an i10 and the dash and interior fittings are dreadful!! Full of thin nasty looking scratchy plastic and a very unpleasant place to spend time, each to their own I guess...

Since the 0% deal came out many dealers are not offering a discount on a new Citigo.

Likewise - my wife hasn't enjoyed driving so much since she had her old BMW (525e E28).

True. I had this with DM Keith's here in Leeds. But after using CARWOW, Alex Lawrie in Liverpool offered £840 off which is almost 8% off list price and the 0% deal for 42 months instead of 36!

They must have had a target to meet as I'm pretty sure they are earning nothing out of that sale on it's own.
