Samsung Galaxy S3 firmware...

Featured Replies

L&G.

I need urgent help, I was one of the few who downloaded the so called Jelly Bean 4,3 upgrade to my SGS3, I didn't install it immediately but when I had a day off I made the fatal mistake of "upgrading" it to 4.3.

I warn you if you have it stored on your phone delete it.... You will not regret not upgrading, it freezes, causes system errors & all sorts of issues.

What I am after is and I don't know if anyone can locate it for me or tell me where I can get the proper 4.1.2 UK firmware for the SGS3, I have Odin so all I need is the file(s).

Can someone who is on 4.1.2 tell me what the PDA, CSC MODEM file names are from either your phone or via Kies.

What I don't want is a branded version of the software (Orange/EE, Vodafone, O2, 3, T-Mobile), as I have a sim free phone and I don't want to risk locking it.

TIA.

Same in the S4, my wife's phone is horrendous to use now.

Why don't you root it?

No help to the original OP as I put KitKat on mine after the 4.3 upgrade debacle, BUT another word of warning if the update is still available to you. Don't.

Thanks.

I've been trying to get a copy of the file which contains: I9300XXEMG4 only to find that it links to Hotfile.com which was shut down without warning overnight, needless to say that's left me completely stuffed.  :(

Isn't there a site with all the Samsung firmwares on IIRC?

The guys at android forums should be able to point you in the right direction

There was that was the Hotfile site, that's been taken down courtesy of the MPAA.

I have actually managed to solve it by finding an old copy of 4.0.4 with the CSC of (KOR), I then got a CSC changer & changed my CSC to BTU (UK) and then hooked it up to Kies which acknowledged the phone as a UK phone and allowed me to upgrade to 4.1.2

I now have a nice stable phone again. But what a palaver!

Apparently Samsung have or are about to release a new certified bug free version of 4.3! I will hold off I think,

However I think I may upgrade my phone soon, I might consider a Sony Xperia Z1 as it's expandable unlike the Nexus & Iphone or even another Galaxy phone, provided it has a FM radio on it!

I've finally snapped.

After all of my work at getting the damned thing working again properly, it's started playing up again, with core programs stopping, play store, gapps etc, freezes and prolonged pauses etc etc etc.

So I've dug out one of my credit cards and bought a Samsung Galaxy S4, it's the only one that I really liked the sound of and it's a tri-band one too, so it's ready for 4G, as well as 2G & 3G.

Bah Humbug....  :@

Sounds like its the handset itself.

Return it for warranty repair with samsung.

That was a FAKE Upgrade, not real one!

Had manny cases in company for the last few days...

Again, it is a FAKE upgrade, not real one...

Avoid it!

Recycling....

I got a new S4 on Monday or Tuesday sim free and did all updates right through to 4.3. Samsung released a corrected one pretty quick. I have had zero problems.

Recycling....

It'd be worth more on ebay ;)

Cyanogemod :)

Put that on a coulple of months ago onto my O2/SGS3. Now it runs like a dream. You get a bloat-free O/S that doesn't suck the life out of the battery. Once they have the Note3 version ready, I'll be upgrading the phone to that.

4.4 meant to be out for S4 Jan and rolling back to S3 and S3 mini later on I read online on a report today.

Recycling....

:'(  :'(

Why not sell it ?

Because I wouldn't want to inflict the misery that Samsung's abysmal firmware update has caused me on anyone else.

Because I wouldn't want to inflict the misery that Samsung's abysmal firmware update has caused me on anyone else.

That would not bother me if it came at the right price :)

check out xda developers - they will have links to the full Odin versions of various firmware.

Beware... there be monsters tho! ;)

Ive been running a CM-variant rom for a fair while now and "thought" id try the official sammy 4.3 as there were a couple of features i did miss..

It lasted about 12 hours - i cannot understate the speed difference between the two roms!. safe to say my next phone will be a pure nexus device!

Me neither. Picked one up the other day for £100. Cyanogen'd it and gave it to the eldest. Ta da!

Prior to doing mine I was having major issues with the Bluetooth, to the point I was having to re-boot the phone to connect to the car. Now I don't.

Am reading all about this 4.3.1 update being corrupt........10.2 is based on 4.3.1, first beta I got was a month ago, no issues, the final release hit last week, still no issues. Personally I think manufacturers and operators fiddling around is not a good idea. O2's SGSIII firmware is about a year behind with no signs of an update appearing any time soon.

Whenever I get a new PC, the first thing I do it blow away what-ever is on there and put Windows 7 (or XP) on there, no bloat, no snazzy wallpaper rubbish, just straight up vanilla Windows. Things run much much faster without all the "extras" (usually Norton) holding it back. The same seems to hold true with phones now too.

................oh and the car-dock works again too. Something that was taken out of the offical ROMS. I now plug the phone into the Samsung car dock and the phone knows it's docked! Makes like much easier! :) :)

Bit o' a highjack, but CM11 Based 4.4.1 now available and running super smooth for the SG3.

I recon even with all the KitKat features turned on ( halo etc ) , I am getting 30% better batter life over stock JellyBean as well as EVERYTHING running butter smooth.

Have a SG3, you would be a fooool not to:)

The Samsung chaos continues, just look at the Fb page... https://www.facebook.com/SamsungMobileUK

If you're on 4.1.2 leave it!

I've just charged it, reset it and then connected it to Kies and it offered me the correct update and it's now fine.

I will offer it to either my mum or dad.

Like I said I've got the S4 for the time being (I'll see what the S5 brings next year), it really grieves me that Samsung's balls up forced me to get a new phone and now the correct update has arrived I've now got a fully functioning phone again and I'm £414 lighter.
