Columbus Satnav Disk

Right this afternoon, I have downgraded to 381x still no working Nav, so upgraded to 402x and nothing, now it is saying 0/0 no fix where as before it was saying 0/8 or 0/9 no fix. I am guessing I have this Regensburg nonsense as that was on screen at one point, however it's now another part of Germany.

The Nav was factory fitted so I am guessing I have the roof mounted GPS receiver. If that is the part at the rear of the car where radio aerial is I noticed it's not very tight to the roof and if I wiggle it trapped water comes from under the rubber base of the aerial assembly, could it be water ingress or is it a case of the head unit has messed up.

Don't want to get to deep into it as only bought car on Saturday from a main dealer and it has warranty, would have thought they checked this before but obviously not.

Any ideas on things I could check, or suggestions of a specific firmware downgrade that might solve the issue.

As always thanks for all the help.

Did as you suggested and sticker reads as follows Part number on sticker is 3T0 035 680 HW: H11 SW: 1164

  • As kb says updated, but its not that new. Check out www.rnsfirmware.com and take the 'modified for older units' route. Adam

  • Yes mine was an A, they were built up to end 2008 or thereabouts I believe and I agree there aren't too many users (on here at least) with them.

It does sound as though the lack of GPS signal is due to the water ingress into the base of the antenna on the roof. Get it fixed / replaced with a new one under warranty.

Deal with that first then see what happens to the head unit when it has a signal.

+1.  The battery drain is almost certainly due to the work the car has been doing without moving and possibly as it is four years old.

The gateway, as Andy says, is not going to be affected by the wider battery drain issue you might have read about, and this is also backed up by the newness of the car.  Generally cars 2008 or newer do not suffer with this wider issue.  I also agree with Andy and I don't think this is a revision A unit either.

So it's booked at the dealers to be looked at on Monday, they also think the aerial is the problem.

Can anyone suggest a cheap dash top aerial I can use just to check it out myself beforehand so that they don't fob me off.

Cheers

There's plenty of these on eBay for not a lot of money.

Ok an update.

Took car to the dealers and they were very good. Fixed a couple of niggles with the car and replaced the roof aerial and now navigation is all working with firmware 4020. Now to find firmware 4120 that will work with revision B.
