your spot on about taking it to a pro set up, they will do alot better job. whilst your there ask them about the products they use. I buy these products from shinerama and clean your car. A little pricey at the side of auto glym etc but they go further and the results dont compair.

I was going to ask about this - my dealer wanted £399! I've got two young boys, so am more concerned with protecting the interior. I've ordered the Elegance spec, so if anyone could recommend a product to protect those fabrics, that would be great!

Get some Scotchgard off of eBay and spray it all over your interior. I have 2 lads and trust me when they have dropped a drink and it just 'bubbles' so you can soak it up you will be amazed and relieved !

Get some and try it on an old rag or something before you put it in car and pour/drop food water etc on it and you will be converted.

Thanks to James for a very helpful post and to everyone else for their contributions. I clearly will not be asking the dealer to apply the protection, but will look to do it myself or find a convenient detailer who can do it for me.

I had a local valeting firm in to give my car a 'new car' preparation. He supplied the Lifeshine and applied it with the help of his assistant, on my premises. The car looks absolutely stunning now and you can feel the silkiness of the paint with a light sweep of the finger. Also, water beads up into quite large beads on both paint and on glass surfaces. No idea if the interior protection is any good or not, but it's also been applied.

I've used this guy several times now, usually have him in to give my car a really good clean just before we go on our annual trip to the Alps, makes the car feel like new :)

Total cost £50. No way would I pay a dealer to apply it, at least I can watch these guys at work and have confidence it's been done correctly. Guess I could have saved a few quid and done it myself, but I'm definitely the type who cuts corners on stuff like this  :giggle:

Sounds good Dodgy. Did you get the warranty certificate and the after sales pack?

Wouldn't mind giving them a try when I'm around your parts. Life is definitely filled with too many fun things to do to spends hours cleaning cars, hence the usefulness of LifeShine, it seems to reduce the need for cleaning and makes it easier.

No problem, at the end of the day, its your car and you do what you feel comfortable and happy doing, if you want LifeShine go for it from the dealer, but, if you fancy a day to get to know your 'new car' then giving it some loving with some nice products can be very rewarding when you look back and think 'wow'!!

Enjoy the new car!

And if you have any fabric protector left you can always give your young child some 'magic' paper to impress there friends at school (thats if you have kids!), get a sheet of kitchen roll, spray with protector, let it dry on the radiator or something, then poor water on it, the paper towel stays perfectly dry, and the water just beads and rolls off, done that for my little girl, she took the paper in to school and amazed her friends!!!  :giggle:  :giggle:

Ithink the estate looks nicer in the mk3,iv had both versions in mk2guise,i dont think of it as a car a lot of people would look twice at in either form, its a nice value for money, reletively speaking, car. i have the estate on order, cos i need the extra load carrying capacity, for carrying spares for my classis fords, also in ny experience with the mk2,i found the estate to be quieter and smoother than the hatch, its all about what suits, and personal choice,i personally dont like the back end of the hatch, compared th the mk2 hatch, life would be boring if we were all the same, continue to enjoy your new car

It is interesting read that a few of you have had the same experience as me, I went to the dealer for a test drive and they didn't have a hatchback, so ended up testing the estate instead, I felt the car was good enough from this test to order a hatch vRS.

From what I can make out at least at moment the hatch is quite rare, as I have yet to see one on the road, I have seen two estates excluding the one I tested, I have also just come back from spending the last 24 hours in Chester, and on the way there and back was hoping to see a 3rd gen hatch vRS, unfortunately I didn't see one, I saw a several of the 2nd gen vRS in both hatch and estate form.

As yet apart from photos on here and the official Skoda pictures, I haven't actually seen the car I have ordered.

I think Skoda started building the estates first as that is where there is most demand, hence the amount of estates around and also being used as dealer demonstrators.

That makes sense, thanks for the info.

I don't think they are the prettiest cars to look but its everything else like cost, build quality, space, engine refinement and reliability that makes us buy them.
