1.2Tsi Oil Top Up EA211

Featured Replies

Posted this on a Seat forum but dd t get much response, engine is common to Vag so thought I'd post here also.

Just turned over 3500 miles in my 1.2 TSI and yellow oil light came on, which I was a bit surprised at. I've driven many marques (petrol & diesel) incl. VAG for approx. 20 years and never had to change oil between services.

Anyway I'm still confused the book mentions all the QI codes which I can't find in any manual.

The dealer has crossed the box for fixed servicing so I topped up with the VW 502 00 oil and the light has now gone off.

Would my car have came delivered for Variable or Fixed has the dealer really changed this to fixed for sure.

Hate to think I've used the wrong oil but would normally service every year anyway.

Also checked on board computer it seems to indicate oil service due in 166 dates which is end of May around the time I collected the car, this would also perhaps indicate car is set to fixed.

Thanks

The light came on because you had never checked the oil level from new did it not.

It required a top up, not an oil change.

I would imagine the same as in  a Skoda Owners manual that the Oil Usage could be higher in the first 5000 km. (3100 miles)

The car leaves the Factory with Long Life Oil, & the Dealer at 12 months/10,000 mile (9.400 mile) service will probably renew with

Long Life even if the Engine is Coded for Fixed Servicing Variable Servicing (flexible.)

If the car is suitable for QG1 Variable Servicing then thats fine.

Did you get Free Servicing or a Servicing Deal and want the Oil & Filter changed annually anyway?

If you have only covered 3500 in 6 months, 'Fixed Servicing' Oil changes seem to  be the most suitable for you.

& check Oil levels on a regular basis might be a good idea.

At least with a new car being run in.

1.2 litre Turbo, with not a greatest of oil capacity, possibly needs oil on occasions.

Did you dip the oil when you first got the car to see the level it showed after the PDI,?

You can not always be sure the oil level is correct.

The Check needs doing with the Engine at normal operating Temperature,

as it shows in the Owners Manual.

I'll only do about 5-6000 miles by the time the cars a year old, so usually go for the fixed intervals, didn't get a service plan or anything.

I had a longish journey down south end of September so checked oil then and it was fine, just wondered if mixing 504 00 and 502 00 would be an issue esp if servicing annually anyway.

Not an issue.

Many Skoda Dealers put in a bottle of Castrol Edge 5w 30 fully synthetic with new Fabia 1.2 TSI  & 1.4 TSI.

These are suitable for Variable Servicing after 2012. and there are ones showing Fixed Servicing.
