Anyone running a normal PD150 turbo?

Featured Replies

As the title says? I know most have hybrids was just wondering if anyone has a normal PD150 turbo on their fabia, what mods and what kind of power are you making?

Got one on mine only running 1.6 bar of boost untill I get an intercooler but it pulls so much better than the mapped 130 turbo

From what I've read in the low to mid 190BHP.

It will be pull harder uptop and i suspect theres a little more lag but not a great deal.

Essentially your turning into into an Ibiza FR Cupri tdi minus intercooler and they tend to make the above figures. From what i read the very little different from say a gold gt tdi turbo and the one on the ibiza, it makes 160BHP because of the tune really.

I've spoke to fabooka about this in the past, some this is from what I've read and what he's told me.

Ibiza fr is a 130 diesel same as our fabias

;)

Sorry cupra fr tdi then :p

Probably another pointless non educated post but stock pd150 on my leon fr (leon has fmic as standard compared to a fabia vrs)

52A6B7FA-6345-4DF2-98C9-436970511C6F-416

Same rr my fabia made 173bhp on pd130 turbo so whatever the weather it can push another 25bhp over a pd130

Interested to get mine on dyno.

Did you notice a sound difference over the Pd130 turbo? My hybrid is really loud!

hybrids sound mental

pd150's do have a bit more whoosh than a pd130 but nowhere in comparison to a hybrid 150, my old one used to growl at me! was awesome

i blew a new pd150 up in 3 weeks running just under 200bhp hence bought a hybrid from turbo dynamics no problems since

I got 185 custom remap on the same dyno as Jases on my pd130.

Thanks for the replies guys, like I say it pulls a lot better already on a lower boost map. Definately makes more of a noise as well dan :P be disappointed if I don't see over 190bhp if I'm honest will have an intercooler new map and rolling road sometime in January !

Just because imy knowledge isn't all that.

Will a pd150 turbo just bolt straight on or would I need any extra bit's to make it fit?

I'm only asking because my car has 115,000 miles on the clock and i'm starting to think the turbo is on it's last legs.

bolt straight on mate, that's why I got it because my turbo went and I saw this for the same price as a 130 ! All that needs doing is the turbo needs to be clocked, where you unscrew the 4 bolts on the housing and turn it so the inlets and outlets are pointing the same way as the standard turbo.

Sweet cheers mate It's defiantly an option. If I was to get it hybrid'd what sort of money am I looking at and what gains over a standard pd150?

Hybrid 150 around 220bhp

But you need the hardware to match

Intercooler

Uprated clutch

Then theres other things that you may want with 220bhp, uprated brakes and handling

Had a pd150 with full THS fmic decat etc. Ran 191bhp and 310ft/lbs on the most accurate dyno I know of, still not as quick as my type r though :(

I just want more power without having to spend stupid amounts. (don't we all)

The vrs is a brilliant little car but it just doesn't put that smile on my face like my mk1 does. My mate had a remapped vrs but against my mk1 it was pretty evens I would whoop him from a standing start but he would have me driving around town, I would struggle to keep the power down with an lsd it would be a completely different story.

Mk2 imo better again. My old small bumper 16v mk2 would eat most things (i'm talking similar power) I raced many a car and can honestly say nothing really beat me even a williams clio. Lots of fun.

Anyway sorry for going off down memory lane. Basically I want more power but something that I can build upon as and when funds allow me, i'm thinking a pd 150 might be the way to go.

Yup just bolt it on and get a custom map

Should see around the 190bhp figure!

You may 'heat soak' the small standard side mounted intercooler at this figure if your really going at it over a prolonged period, but for normal driving and the odd blast the standard intercooler will suffice.

About the standard intercooler. I was looking on darksides website last night. They sell an uprated standard intercooler which is about £300 for the kit, will that fit on the fabia because it doesn't state it does?  I would prefer side rather than front i'm not looking to chase stupid figures just looking for a bigger smile.

Think you answered your own question there lol, no it doesn't fit the fabia, not without some fettling at least, not really worth the effort I don't think.

Fair enough it just looks physically identical. Nevermind.

Anything can be made to fit with a bit of DIY

I have no experience on uprated smic's but surely if darkside are willing to put their stamp on it then it must be slightly beneficial! Well its got to be as the standard one is woefull

It states on their website it can handle upto 230bhp, which for me would be perfect and only £300 rather than £500 for a front mounted.

You've got another £60 on top of the final figure though mate as that figure stated is without VAT. Not heard of many companies doing that online, sticking the VAT at the very end. Must lose them a fair few customers?

You can get a turbo revs smic for £100

Its designed for the 1.8T so doesnt have those nasty intercooler clips

With a bit of fettling you could get that to fit / save some cash / and do away with those crappy clips

Didn't think of that but either way it's cheaper than a Seat sport fmic.
