1.9 TDI vs 1.4 TDI PD

Featured Replies

Hi looking to buy a fabia estate and have two choices lined up, both 2004

1.4 TDI PD COMFORT

1.9 TDI ELEGANCE

What do think is best option?

I am leaning towards the 1.9, but if 1.4 is way cheaper is may be an option.

Although probably out of my price range how do they compare to the

  1.6 TDI CR 105 ELEGANCE

Thanks

elegance everytime. Heated electric mirrors, heated front seats, and the 1.9TDi. I may be a little biased :notme:

My thoughts, but wanted to make sure.

What sort of price for 2004 with 115000 on clock, it has a few light scratches on paint work?

£1800-2000 but im a bit tight.

autrader value mine with 122K at £1750 private (hatchback) so yeah around that ^^^ sort of area. If you know what you're doing you can probably find a good one for a bit less :)

Cant talk about engine but elegance always. Nothing beats heated seats. Also nice to have heated mirrors and even parking sensors

I can back up lee...

Heated electric mirrors

Heated seats

And the added bonus of a decent enough 100bhp 1.9 tdi.

Comfort should have heated mirrors :) But I do wish I had heated seats :(

Like Lee, I'm a bit biased on the 1.9 PD100... Well, PD140 for me... but It's genuinely a great engine and there are a few reports of the 1.4 TDI being a little sluggish - and that's in the hatch.

The only CRTDI I've driven is the 2.0 from a Superb Elegance, and honest opinion from me is it just feels like another VAG Diesel. Quite powerful, reliable, economical.

I had a similar dilemma when looking for my Fabia.

In the end I decided that with the type of driving I do (almost exclusive 25 mile commute on fast roads) that the 1.4 TDI would not be much more economical than the 1.9 TDI (although it would be if my driving was more mixed).

I got an Elegance and as mentioned it's nice to have the heated seats. I get around 64 mpg calculated on my commute which I'm more than happy with.....I reckon the 1.4 would only do a few MPG more.

I do a lot of short journeys and 90% around streets etc... My 1.9 tdi elegance says average 45mpg which I think is great anyway

does that make mine a pd210-ish? aha

elegance carries top spec, heated seats are a godsend in winter. need to still refit mine into my fabia sport seats :'(
