Black Magic OEM Build (Budget)

Recommended Posts

All,

He is my 2003 VRS. Completely original when bought a few months ago.

2 owners from new. Various stamped history. 96k on the clock.

First job was a major service, for piece of mind as well.

Plugs, oil, filter usual main stuff changed. Also took the opportunity to have the pickup pipe replaced plus it needed a few track rod ends bits and bob. TT alloy bushes too.

Plus put my old double din in. I changed the colour settings to green to match the clocks too.

Some MTEC sidelights. They are not LED so last ages. Tend to find the SMD bulbs don't work out too well. They either die to quickly or don't match, some seem more blue than others.

New pollen filter. Also checked the state of the seal. Had a passat before with leaking seal and certainly don't want that going again. Anyway nice and dry just a dirty filter. This was done before I had the major service, otherwise they would of done that.

Running bad the other. 3 days after a major service. Anyway RAC came out. Intermittent throttle body fault. Rather than main dealer it I took a gamble and bought a used throttle body from a VRS broken for spares. Touch wood its be OK up to now.

Couple of random shots at the rents house while I swapped over the throttle body. Guess who dropped a bolt down the intercooler pipe!! Thank god for a magnetic pickup pipe!! Actually the best £3 I've ever spent!

£50 for the turbo intake pipe. £50 for the boost pipe kit and about £25 for the breather pipe.

Some fitted bulb pics.

Just the mtec sidelights..

Both mtev sidelights and bulbs..

Not the best pics but took them using my phone. If anything they are just the same brightness as OEM but more white.

Fitted the intake but decided to go with the original airbox. The contestant sound of turbo wooosh was too much to handle and the dump from the recirc every minute was quite loud.
