More like a cowboy garage. It was booked in for a silicone TIP and lower breather pipe - they failed to fit both as they said "it was too hard".

Its not a mount. They bodged refitting it to to the decat. It will look better with a new backbox anyway. Original one lasted 100,000 miles, all rusty and horrible.

New exhaust by Longlife (chester branch). I opted for no sound as I dont want it attracting trouble. Could of done with it being an inch or 2 smaller but anyway...

Its backbox only. The mid section was in good condition and I wanted to retain the middle silencer, plus keep costs down as its being mapped on april 25th.

Black carpet had been obtained. Just waiting for a good day to fit it. It was from a golf mk4 5 door. Actually really good condition, got my dad on the case tomorrow wet vac'ing it.

Also got my car booked in locally Friday 25th for a remap. AD Edmunson, very good rep in the area and specialises in VW. Hoping for 220bhp. Rolling road before/after included.

oooh, pink cannula, nice thin one then :)

Missus has to have one of those every 28 days. doesn't help she's needlephobic either :(

Top Mrs for the pressie though, you should go in more often if she treats you like that! All I get is a day off work and to wear the maids uniform :(

  • 2 weeks later...

Had the car mapped today.

Mapper said its rare for these engines to actually still have 180bhp when on rollers. To his surprise it actually pulled bang on 180! 10 years old and 100k on the clock.

Looks a bit ghetto in there but he knows what he is doing.

Here is the result..

It's like a new car to drive.

Custom map and took around 3hrs to complete.

Had a few nice motors outside as well.

There was another 3 more EVOs inside!

If anyone's interested...

It was mapped with decat, 007 forge valve and pipercross panel filter. Original TIP had to go back on as the cheap silicone one kept failing.

It's stage 2, but he deems stage 1 as map with no mods and stage 2 with decat fitted etc.

It was £269 all in including rolling road before and after. Got 10% off and free rolling road sessions as part of a local April special deal. Its normally £50 for the rolling road plus 299 for what he called a stage 2 map.

Im going back on Thursday to have a lower breather hose fitted (currently tape repair in place!) and another stronger silicone TIP fitted.

My only other plans now are :

Golf black carpet.

Wheels painted

Front bumper respray

Then it would just be a case of keeping it clean and serviced for the remainder of its ownership.

That's the full graph. Real smooth power. These cars should have been sold like this from the factory. It seemed very 'lazy' in standard 180 form. Overtaking on the motorway is mental now.
