Mines probably around 20bhp down on what you have got now. 80mph in 5th floor it and it takes off like a jet

Ah thanks for that, i thought you need a fmic for a stage 2? Am very impressed with those results, seems like a nice smooth power band too! You got a nice car right there, would love to get to around the 225-230hp mark some day when funds allow!

  • Author

He doesnt base the stage level by BHP. A stage to him is just a custom map with modified parts. To him a stage one is map with standard parts. If you get me?

Anyway a day in with the map and its hitting boost cut.

I am upgrading the spring in the 007 valve to a 'yellow' as dont think the one it currently has can handle the PSI. Probably make a difference with a new silicone TIP. Having that fitted on thursday, so will update with photos.

So quite a bit happened to day.

- Changed the carpet to Black

- Cleaned all interior plastics (minus the seats!)

- Rewired the microphone for the headunit

- Perm earthed the headunit to watch DVDs without having the handbrake on

- Drilled hole in the ashtray to accomodate the USB cable for the HU

- Aircon bomb'd the car.

- Greased up the gearstick mechs

Just a few snaps. The carpet took around 3hrs for a proper job. The tricky bit was the handbrake. PITA job! Had to be unbolted and moved aside to enable removal of the centre console.

Looking good mate :)

Picking up a black carpet myself tomorrow

The trim is removed easy but remember to unbolt and remove the handbrake out of the way to get the centre console plastic out of the way and watch for the plastics on the lower door trims. There is one T shaped piece. It has about 5 clips in which just pull out and then 2 which pull DOWN under the centre part of the door behind the seat belt. I snapped mine :(

I know the trim peice you mean ive removed it before to investigate wiring i think. If i remember rightly, i swore at it abit

Well the car isnt driveable at the mo. Its hitting some sort of boost problem. No tsshhh from the dump valve but seems to backfire thru the exhaust.

Going to find a copy of vagcom and see what it says. No dashights but might be a coilpack issue (odd as they are brand new).

Will report back.

Have you tried running it with the maf unplugged mate? Just to rule that out. It might run at standard power though

  • Author

Yep. Its come on vagcom with MAP sensor fault. Its an aftermarket one but the looks of it aswell. Trying to source another one now..

Found some on ebay for about 30 quid but have a 30% code at ECP. Ordered it in, will pick it up after lunch. Ideally want it sorted today. In order to actually get to the sensor I had to remove the water bottle, so will clean that up whilst its out. Its filthy inside!

Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Might find that you need to unplug it and get the intercooler out as the screws can rust stiff and get easily mashed

  • Author

Well one bolt on the map sensor was already buggered.

Ended up getting a genuine bosch sensor (picking error with ECP), so that was a result!

New sensor is in. Clipped in well and held down by one bolt. Its really secure so im not worried about the second bolt (CBA removing bumper to get out the intercooler!).

Whilst I was at it I finally replaced the front intercooler pipe with a red Venair silicone affair and cleaned out the washer bottle.

Just a few pics, nothing special..

Its boosting well at 3000rpm onwards now. Although it did misfire for the first few minutes. Seems to have settled itself now. The car is now brutal on boost again.

Unfortuantly my friend came round to help in his e46 330ci and I want one...! Haha.

Next job, paint correction and engine bay clean with a handheld steam cleaner/degreaser.

Well few days later. The MAP sensor seems to have settled in and its boosting fine.

Few more items done; Venair TIP. Wasnt actually made for the VRS AUQ engine, as such a vacumn valve doesnt fit from the sai, but doesnt appear to effect anything.

Took the grill off. Plastidip'd it. New citigo badges on both front and rear.

Snowfoam, claybar and polish..

Update.

Still getting boost cut or whatever you want to call it. Its almost like VTEC cross over on Hondas. Put your foot down and as it should be hitting boost it hits a brick wall and the engine note changes.

No codes on Vagcam, no dash lights.

Fitted some NKG BKR7E plugs. Still the same boost problem but drives far smoother under boost and idle.

Also changed the n75 valve for a new "E" one. Thought the boost problem was that obv not.

Its going back to the mapper ASAP. Its obv a map issue.

Old plug..

New NKGs..

Have you checked your brake lights work and work properly? I had this issue and i had to press the pedal almost all the way before the brake lights came on

  • Author

I have found the potential problem. The lower breather pipe had a rip on the underside about 5 inches long (right near the dipstick, out of sight). Also no.2 was brittle and litterally crumbled when I squeezed it!
