Dead battery - help opening the boot

Featured Replies

Hi all

2012 Estate is completely dead - I assume it's the battery - Found the hidden lock hole and got into the car.

Opened the bonnet then realsed the battery is in the boot!

Found a copy of the manual here http://www.skoda-auto.co.in/Worldwide/Model-Documentation/Documents/Superb-Owners-Manual.pdf  I've leant over the front seats, pulled the rear seat base forward and dropped the seat backs forward.  According to page 43 of the manual there's meant to be a screwdrier shaped hole somewhere to open the boot - but I can't find it anywhere

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Can you not access the battery from where you are now and just run the charger in through a door?

there's some devices available where you can charge the battery via the 12V power socket if you get really stuck.

Are you sure it is in the boot, when i was looking at them in showroom the battery was under bonnet in engine bay. Unless older models where different of course. It was hidden under plastic mouldings as shown in pic below.

The battery in mine is under the bonnet. 2009 though so may have changed the design from normal and [practical to daft BMW style?

If it's a 3.6 V6, the battery is in the boot...

Yep - It's a V6 - I've just had a look at the manual again and there's meant to be a jump starting point under the bonnet - I shall attach my battery charger to that

You can charge the battery via the cigarette lighter if you buy a CTEK battery charger, eg the latest MXS 5.0T, along with a CTEK cigarette lighter connector adapter.

Good find about the charging point! Can I be nosey and enquire as to the reason of untimely demise of the battery?

Excellent learnt something new so another day not wasted ;)

At that age, surely its a warranty issue?

Unless its just you left the lights on :)

I think you're right - I'e been charging it with a 6A charger for about 6 hours, just tried starting it and I just get a lot of clicking - it hasn;t held enough charge to start the car.  Lights weren't left on, so I guess it's a failed battery

I am a big fan of the CTEK chargers (as you might have guessed from some of my posts...)

6-hours @ 6A might not be long enough if the battery was deeply discharged.

What colour is the indicator "light" on the car battery?

Does your charger provide you with any info on the charging state?
