Overheating mystery PD130

Featured Replies

I appreciate it's not a skoda but it's exactly the same engine as the vrs ????

Hello,

Recently upgraded to my 1.9 fr pd130. Been having over heating problems with the car under load or strain and have no idea what's up with it now.

I have replaced

Water pump and belts

Thermostat

Flushed coolent system out twice

Had the HG tested "SNIFF TEST"

Fan kicks in on idle

All this has made it better but it still overheats momentarily; as soon as the temp creeps up I let off the power and it drops back down to normal which I believe is 90 degrees.

Was wondering if anyone knew anything else about this mystery?

Cheers

It sounds like the engine is leaning off under boost, check the fuel system; filter, pump etc. is it possible that's it's had a bad 'economy' remap?

Thanks for your reply.

Had a new filter on within the last 2 months, no issue with fuel delivery as fair as I'm aware. Is there any way I could test this?

Economy has been too notch can't fault it. From Leeds to Manchester last night I averaged 61mpg not maps or anything

How old is the car? Could it be a hose collapsing or the rad is partially blocked

It's an 06, someone else has mention a rad blockage. Iv run water though the rad and used proper rad flush. Will take the bumper off tommrow evening and have a feel of the rad for temp difference at different point on idle

may also be worth giving the fins a quick blow / clean out while bumpers off
