:bump: According to the "top 1000" teams we had the biggest single WU production score total in the team's history - 3380 points - now up to 282 in the rankings! http://statsman.info/folding2stats

and then we wonder why half of our team have given up:rofl: if we cant fully figure things at times - how will less computer literate members manage

mine wouldn't send results at all yesterday... it kept trying and failing for best part of the day - and then suddenly the results went through at about 10 last night! Dunno why, I didn't change any settings..... it still managed to download new WUs tho ??

BUMPETY BUMP!

As always, I'm happy to lend a hand to anyone who wants help / advice on this. On MSN or via PM. :)

wooohooo, up to 33 work units...! service running flawlessly here, anyone any idea what's causing it to fall over for some people?

no idea, but mine seems to be working fine now too! hmmm better go find some wood to touch......

oh and on a separate tack... watch out Andy, I'm coming to get you :P

I think the main problem is with people who run the service, but who's PCs can't cope with 24/7 running. Some sadly appear to be too clogged up with stuff. Now my AMD64 is going, as a sole folding machine only, its been doing very nicely. Got the network issue resolved too, so now it always gets the I.P assigned by DHCP when it logs in, and it never fails to send/download work units.

I think we still need to find that member who has access to HUNDREDS of PCs to help us out, and can sneak something on to each one of them. ;)

I'd love to sneak F@H onto the 15 PCs in the training centre at work.... but as most of them are currently often not switched on for days at a time I think they might get suspicious if they were suddenly switched on 24/7 lol...... tempted to give 1 or 2 a go tho.... only thing that bothers me is a) getting found out or B) whether the security setting on them would allow work to be sent or received! Hmmm... :rubchin:

Well, if you're able to create a new folder in c: called "folding" and then download the service into it - Then just try the DOS command setup of it, and then see what happens. Once I try it here, the admin rights kick in and denies the FAH exe program from starting/installing.

No harm in trying one though. ;)

I have admin rights on ym PC at work and have set the serivce to use the proxy etc. etc. STill it cant connect to either the work or results servers.

I get round this by running the exe manually and hiding it in the system tray.

This is fine on my machine but if only I could work out a way to get it running as a service - there are 15-20 3.2 Ghz machines ready to go :(

Are you able to play with just one of them to see if its a network assigning problem? I assume all of them are happily able to browse the internet, as if they can do that and service setup uses "Internet Explorer Settings (Y/N)" then there shouldn't be an issue.

Aside from that I'm sure Manny or ColG will help out more.

Just a thought? Would it be an idea to have a permanent banner for the folding team? Something like the Xbox banner, but with a link for people to access the folding forum, or the folding FAQ page? I can imagine it something along the lines of saying:

"Do you have spare computer processing power? Want to use it for Briskoda? - Click link"

Hmmmm? :)

Just had another idea which might help a little bit, but it would need moderator work to make it viable.

Basically my idea was to put a sticky at the top of the most used parts of the forum, I guess this mainly being the off topic room, with a link for folding. Maybe in the Tech Shed too. Its use in forums like General Car Chat is dubious, but I'm only thinking about how to get more people involved and helping out the team.

I think you're signature promoting Folding appears all over the site as it is, Jason. ;)

We need all the "idle" folders to get going again really.

 indeed. but like anyone ever looks at my signature. And its not like it appears that often around Briskoda now, eh? :o:D

Good to see our bpm is now putting through an average in excess of 2300 points a day.

Still need more though. :D We can't rely on the half dozen or so 1000+ members. We need bolstering with some fresh CPU blood.

Who's going to bpm's understudy then? Need someone to stick this on a few PCs for us.

Still searching for the ellusive university technician ;)
