Nope - delivery early this month - should be during my first week back at work, then down to a mate's who's in the PC business to help me build it.

Thought of something else I may have missed though - Not sure if the ASUS board I got has onboard graphics or not. Could be a bugger if it hasn't as I have no spare graphics at all. Would only need a dirt cheap basic thing anyway I guess. :) Not like its gonna be a gaming machine.

Yeah that's not gonna be a huge issue -- plenty of cheap cards around.

Keep us posted on progress

Which model board did you buy J?

£30 too much. ;) Found one local to me on Ebay which ends soon - Its an older 32mb card, but would do the job for me I reckon. :)

Just make sure it's a PCI-Express card J! :D

A what? I know it would have to be a PCI slot one. Had a message from the seller of the cheap card on fleabay saying I should check the board for compatability as voltages might differ.

is what I was thinking of using?

edit: Just realised its an AGP card - has to be PCI does it for that ASUS board?

PCI express is different again....latest graphics slot so to speak........... but a normal old pci card should do what you want it to do and I think it will work but check with others first

pci express....ummm pci-x raid card versus pci raid card data rates...

Blasted technology changes...

so will an older PCI card still work on an express board?

Your board uses a different type of slot for the graphics card. PCI-Express has now taken over as the standard, as it offers double the bus speed of AGP cards (the speed information can get from the card to other bits of the PC).

The card I thought of is probably the cheapest available; all PCI-Express cards I've seen come with at least 128mb. Try searching fleabay for '128mb PCI-Express' and see what you come up with

Just as well you checked really wasn't it? ;)

That's a good point, never thought of checking! J - I've probably got an old PCI card (probably 4/8mb) that you can try if you want?

Yes please? :D As I say I don't need any MB at all really as 99.9% of the time there'll be nothing (at all) going on. I can always uprate it to a PCI-Express card come selling on time. :)

What do you want for that one, Steve? ;)

PM me your details. I'll see what I've got and send it down

thought I had a couple laying around ..........but I think they have been chucked :o or you could have had them

Carefull PCI-X and PCI-E (xpress) are two totally different beasts !
