:bump: According to the "top 1000" teams we had the biggest single WU production score total in the team's history - 3380 points - now up to 282 in the rankings! http://statsman.info/folding2stats

And there's me just hoping my 3500+ will take me above 400ppd - At least my name should go into a different colour on the O.C link. :D

Dont think it will be long before you crack the tenth spot to me thinks  The gap is definately closening in!!!!

I aint had anything like a big WU now for a while - best points i've had was a 242point wu - no 600 pointer's for ages.

I think SkodaW is givin a backhander to the server admin @ Stanford  to keep my wu's smaller than his

One point that's just hit me - was just looking at skodaw's progress (well done mate!) and see you have something like 14 machines that have returned results. But I notice when I've setup folding, you can only choose from IDs 1-8 in the advanced options, for the console folding version anyway.

So how you do get that number of machines to report results correctly?

I think the 1 to 8 thing is just if you want to know what each machine is really doing. I "assume" if you say every machine is #1, it will amalgamate the results of all the PCs into 1. So with 14 I guess you need 2 #1s 2 #2s... and so on?

I'm not really fussed about knowing what each machine does though.

Damnit. The boss has jusrt been in, spied "the rig" in the corner and said

"You can't have that - it's supposed to be a Ghost session server"

So bye-bye 1.5Ghz P3 with hi-spec RIMMS. Might slow down for a week or two.

but it's the perfect excuse i need to wangle one of the 1.7 P4's instead....

It was my understanding that each PC you had folding under your username had to have a unique ID number, so the WU server didn't get confused when receiving data, and giving out new WUs?

It's obviously possible to do, and I was a bit surprised the console install only gave you 8 machine options anyway. I presume the GUI version does the same?

I never found out how to give machine IDs on the graphical client. Something that first appeared for me when I started using the service setup. :)

I don't think the ID is anything other than a tag for the WU should the folder wish to see how each of their PC performs? Not sure how those at the top of the league manage with their massive folding farms?

the machine id (1-8) is only usefull if you have more than 1 cpu in a machine (or you have a dual core cpu). When the client is installed a unique code is used to id that box and then the 1 to 8 is appended to give a unique cpu (core) within that box.

eg I've got 4 Machines running and on of those has 2 cpu's. The only one that has been set up with a machine id of 2 is the second cpu on the dual proc box.

my stats page shows :

Active processors

(within 7 days) 5

which is correct.

Hope this clarifies things.

Ah right - thanks for that, makes sense. It should really say 'CPU ID' in the setup then, instead of 'Machine ID' :)

:bump: Still need more power for the cause.

We need that person in charge of about 400 p4 2.8 machines, who can work some magic for us.

Anyone who wants help with this, feel free to PM me or add me to MSN :) Will talk through it with you.

Just added another 2 machines to the cause. Its not 400, but its a start! :D

:bump: Come on guys. No new members scored some points for nearly two weeks now. Just need 10 more people to have 100.

Must be a few more people with access to I.T at work that could run this, even at just 50% in case of worries. :)

I'm a 'Folding' virgin:O

Does the folding thingy run in the backgroud, or does it Bu**er up your PC if you still want to use it normally?

I can probably run my work PC most of the time, as I am out on the road most days, so its sitting there doing nout.

Urgh! I've got over 40 Windows XP servers (dual and quad processor) doing the best part of f**k all at work. The trouble is a) I can't get through the corporate firewall (tried it with a Linux machine which I "own". B) Installing non-approved software is an instant dismissal offence - and I'm too close to a pension to even think about it. :(

Yeah - for people like you its a strict no-no. I guess its more the people who perhaps have less risk of disciplinary action, and/or have a slightly more relaxed attitude to I.T software. I.e making it "approved" through official lines for the "good of human kind in the long run" ;):D

Need some fresh blood in to bolster up our climbing rate up the table. At the moment we're hovering around the 12,000 points per day mark and are actually predicted a falling rate over the next few weeks. :thumbdwn:

Need to get a few more PCs on the case. :D As always I'll help out anyone who's curious or clueless about it via PM or MSN. (and maybe my AMD64 3500+ will be going soon - all being well)

In all fairness....I don't get it!!!

We now officially have a new member on the team.:D

Urrrm, I have got a bend, but a folding sounds painful ! I have also got access at work to massively underused , networked pc's.

If i understood what you guys sound so serious about, I may be able to help, but I am sure there are others like me who are slightly wary, and not entirely sober, but mean well nonetheless, who are just rather confused,.

Please explain , in English !
