1st 2nd gear problem

Can anyone help?

It all started when The weld on the back of my clutch pedal broke and went flat to the floor.

Purchased new one and fitted.

Ran OK for a month then one morning I Tried to put my car in reverse - nothing

So checked linkage cables and replaced plastic ends followed you tube videos on how to set linkage up. Did 6 times, reverse now works, but 1st and 2nd gear don't work.

Thought this might be hydraulic problem in gear box, so replaced hydraulic clutch bearing and clutch after having gear box out - all gears engage when manually pushing with hands. Bled system with hydraulic bleeding kit and got air out of clutch pedal, but still feels spongy.

After re-setting gear linkage again with locking pins etc still no 1st and 2nd gear - engages all the rest.

Spent hours on forums and you tube. Only other things I can think it might be is base plate on bottom of linkage or master cylinder problem.

Can anyone help?

Leave the shift cable connected and disconnect the select cable. Move the select by hand to engage gears and mark the positions. Now reconnect the select cable, lock, adjust and compare the positions.

It is possible that something in the box has bent/broken. When you think you engaged 1st/2nd by hand, you may find it was 3rd/4th.

Good Luck.

have you checked the fork on the gearbox? That tend to bend/broke...

I'm having this problem now

6 speed box? Is that a standard box for the l&k?
