February Track Day @ Oulton Park Friday 21st

Featured Replies

I remember Cliff trying to follow me when I had the instructor in the car last time. He said every lap I did something different, so it was hard to learn.

I blame my Octy's terrible brakes.

And my inability to drive smoothly on track. Need more practice, once the car stops squealing.

Hopefully you do have a good day this time Jason. It's worth it.

  • I think so, after replacing the front bush again, changing top mounts, replacing subframe and getting the wheel alignment done 3 times it seems to be "ok" at the moment. Sadly the camber is not as mu

Guys, I am going to speak to a good friend of mine, he has been racing Historic cars for the past 50 odd years, he currently runs a Lotus 41 in the HSCC and has a Marcos GT too, he lives local to OP and I am hoping will attend to sit in as our instructor.

I am sure for a similar fee to what we paid last time he will pass on his wealth of knowledge.

 Anybody interested?

I am happy to pay whatever I paid last time. :-)

Scratch that idea of an instructor, my mate will be at the racing car show on that date..  I can try and get in touch with the guy we had last time?  Ray Grimes..

See what I can arrange.

I think I just need practise. :D   Did you see my note above about toolage James? :)

I did Jason, tools will be abundant, I will have my awesome Jack, Torque wrench, sockets, spanners, screwdrivers, a hammer (in case we do anything technical) and I will have the laptop with VCDS on it too!

So, fetch yourself and the Mongrel we should most other bases covered.

That jack IS awesome!     Had the mongrel up about a foot in the air in only 5 arm movements!  :D

Just thought, do we need a garage?  If we do, we can pay £25 for one or wait until we are there and hope we manage to get a free one.

 What do you guys think?

It was nice having a garage but I'm not to fussed if we are outside. ( I hope to be in the car driving)

Brilliant, we will have something to chase

My mate with the Escort Maxi is having second thoughts, his workload is high at the minute and he owns his own business, hope he can make it because the car is incredibly quick.

Ah, that must be the clio I declouded the headlights on last time I was up there? :)

Yup its completely standard and his first time on track.

Good place to learn I think, especially with all of us relative newbies too.   It will be a hoot for him I am sure.

He went with us last time so got to know the track, only from the passenger seat.

So with all the glorious weather we have been having lately and with more due next week.

If MSV decide to cancel this event, will they email us or do we just have to ring them next Thursday to see if it's still going ahead ?

It will go ahead even if raining. I'll just be using my road tyres...
