Skoda Fabia mark 1 1.9TDi 100bhp Elegance Estate

Featured Replies

Dear All

I am selling my Fabia after 12 years of ownership.  I have had the car new since the 1 September 2001 so the car is registered as a 51 plate.  I have been the only owner in this time.  It has been a great car.  I am only selling as I have no need for a diesel and another estate car, we bought an Octavia 4 years ago so at the moment I am running 2 estate cars.  I have a Citigo Sport on its way so I am not defecting to another marque.

The car is totally standard other than a specced metallic paint, the car is silver.

History of the car.

I have the new owners pack you receive with a new car, owners manual, service book, radio manual etc.

The car is on fixed servicing.

First 5 services were done by Skoda main dealer.  The next 7 were done by an indepnedent VW/Audi specialist known to me.  I then had one done by a Skoda dealer as they gave me a good price because the car is deemed to be a classic!  The final service was done by the VW/Audi speclist again on the 13/11/2013 at 74,354.  Brake fliuid was changed at this service as well.

MOT just done.

Current mileage 74,749

Taxed until end of February 2014.  £120 per year.

I had an oil change done by Skoda on the 20/12/2001 at 2,161 miles as I like to change the oil after the car is run in.

I have always supplied my own oil and the car has always been run on 505.01 spec oil, Millers XFE-PD.  Looking through the oil filler cap I can see no wear on the camshaft.  I have never had condensation issues in the filler cap either and the car has never been used for stop start motoring.

The cambelt and water pump have been replaced twice, the last time changed was on the 20/09/2011 at 61,172 miles.

The steering pump has been changed.  I will check the date when this was done.

2 rear shocks and bump stops replaced I think 4 years ago.

Brake light swich replaced by me 4 or so years ago, latest spec then which cured the old issue of no brake lights and flickering glow plug light etc.

The car battery I think 3 years old but in perfect conditions.  Pictures attached.

I have VCDS so some modications have been done to the coding but I can reverse if a potential owner does not want the changes.

All doors unlock on single button

Anti-hijack

Doors unlock when key taken out

Beep on setting and unsetting the alarm.

Car has Fabia carpet matts.  Boot in perfect condition, has always had a bootliner which I bought new when I first had the car.

Spare wheel never used, jack I think used once only and everything in perfect order.

No warning lights.

Brakes have plenty of life left in them.  Brembo front and back discs.  Pagid front pads, textar rear pads.

There are a couple of minor parking dents I am afraid.  I can send detailed pictures.

There is a parking scratch on the offside rear door. Has been touched in.

No tears on front and back seats.  Non smoker.

Tyres in good order.  They are all the same size and manufacturer.  185/60 HR14.  Car has the standard fit alloys.  Spare is a black steel wheel.

Rears have loads of life, maybe fronts 8,000 miles left.

Sills in good order.  Never used a mechanic or tyre depo that jacks under sills without any protection damaging them.

I think thats all I can think of.

I am looking for £1,900 ONO.

I live in Surrey.

Any questions please let me know.

Thanks for looking

Car looks lovely. Do you have any pictures of the interior at all?

Would be good if you could list the make and model of tyres, and give a breakdown of the service history (Date, Mileage, Garage Details)

Looks lovely, worth every penny!

conanius: I would think service history would be around the same date every year at about 5k a time going by the amount of services and the milage/age. Should be another 12 years left in it!

Hi conanius

I can post other pictures of interior (front and rear), boot, fascia, engine bay, under oil filler cap etc.  I am not sure how you attach more pictures as I think I have used up my allowance on this post.  If any one can help me please explain how I do it.  Thanks.

Regards pics, set up a Photobucket account then just link to that once you've uploaded your pics to there.

Looked at a petrol estate locally for my daughter, it wasn't anywhere near the condition this one seems to be, same price too. Sadly I reckon with it being the cc/bhp it is insurance could be a sticking point for my daughter, only because she's just passed her test. Apart from that I would have most likely been on to it like a flash for her.

Good to see a well prepared and honest advert

Been looking at the specs on this model, does it have...

Heated seats, aircon, CD/radio?

And what's the real world mpg figures?

Thanks

Hi MickA

Yes heated seats, air con, no CD I am afraid,  In 2001 it was a tape player!

However this vintage had electric rear windows.

Real world MPG is middle 50's average.  Around town say 48mpg, a long run in 5th it will do 65mpg.  Can be in the 70's but depends on speed and how heavy

you are with the throttle.

Has traction control which can be switched off and of course ABS.

Perhaps I have valued my car too high!  Does anybody have any thoughts on this to help me please?

Value seems spot on to me :)

+1 - some guides suggest £1700, but it's very subjective on condition and based on a higher mileage.  I've been trying to tempt my son with this, rather than trying to keep his '93 Polo Coupe alive any longer, but he's not having any of it.

If it was a car I was looking for, I wouldn't hesitate at £1900.  Good value for money IMO

Great looking estate, alas just the wrong time of year to sell anything.

But whats the spec? Electric windows? Air con? Bhp? Etc

O P mentioned all in write up

I must be blind. .. still cant see it

Thank you to chrisw880 and V6TDI on your opinion that the car value is about right, I appreciate your feed back.

To answer whitep questions.

1,9 TDi PD engine 100bhp.  Standard, never been mapped.

5 speed box

Standard elegance spec only extra was metallic paint, silver

Headlights height adjustable

Electric wing mirrors and heated

Electric front and back windows

Heated front seats

8 speaker stereo (tape player as this vintage did not have a CD player)

ABS

Traction control (can turn off with a dashboard button)

Roofbars (standard on elegance estate)

Mudflaps (standard rear, dealer fitted genuine fronts before I collected the car)

Carpet mates (genuine Skoda Fabia)

Bootliner (genuine)

60/40 split rear seats

2 inertia rear belts, middle is a lap belt

I think that is all I think off.

May be worth finding a 2nd hand skoda cd player for it (might help to sell).
As for price I would say it is just right, maybe a bit low  .  Got P/x of £1k for my comfort model with 171k on the clock. and he then sold it on for 1750!

I think its important to realise that December & January are slow months for car sales.

I've got a 2011 Fabia vRS Estate for sale on here and elsewhere, loads of views, loads of people following and dropping e-mails asking for details, but people are busy seeing family and being on holiday.

Give it a couple of weeks and you'll see people feeling better after christmas expenditure and buying again. At this price point cars move a bit quicker than elsewhere.

Interesting post robt100 on the price.  How old was your Comfort spec model?  I am pricing it to sell.

I was thinking about dropping a CD player in the car, easy to do.  Do you think a secondhand genuine one would be better than an aftermarket one, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony etc?

I haven't sold a car In December or January before, so thank you for the heads up conanius.  I am in no real rush, I'd like it to go to a good home who understands and likes the brand.

I forgot you are selling a Fabia estate although a VRS one at that.

I think with the details you have listed, it would be a crying shame to drop a £50 halfords special head unit in there.

Get a Skoda one from the period off eBay. It will look a lot better, and will avoid putting off buyers who will go .... oh.

The only way aftermarket ICE works is when it is done properly. You are selling the car, you shouldn't be doing it properly.... you are doing it to sell.

I think I have my Sony CD/Radio that I had in my mk3 Golf then Octavia(plugs straight in) It has been in a cupboard 5 years now. PM me and you can have it for the cost of postage and make a donation to Guide Dogs for the blind(once you are happy it fits and works). It will help you, help me declutter and help guide dogs.

I will try and dig it out of the spare room if i can find it.

Let me know

just sold mine 02 plate 110k year mot 6 tax belts all done  16 alloys wanted 1700 got 1000 after bids on ebay

wrong time to sell cars now keep it for few months sell later now you will have silly money

My comfort was on an 02 plate, though I think it was a 2001 build and just didnt sell due to the colour. (ocean green.......eurgh!).

Id say a genuine cd player would sell better than an aftermarket, but then that also depends on the buyer. a young driver who wants a "brand" name might prefer the aftermarket over the original. But i dont think thats the kind of buyer that would go for this car!

CD Player on ebay  but overpriced IMO. Our local scrapyard has stacks of headunits from cars, it may be worth ringing around a few and see what they have.

GLWTS, nice spec and well looked after car there. :)

I really wish I could afford this, your car seems brilliant!
